19:40 Sunland Park (Race 4) - Shes Acting Single @ SP
The pair of last time out maiden breakers may dominate the market. Mo Money Time (4) has ran the faster.
That was when second here in January and latterly when slamming overmatched rivals by seven lengths last month. Like her, Sensuous Woman (3) goes for an in form trainer. She overcame a tardy start to win at first asking almost six weeks ago. Second time out, she could improve past standard setter Mo Money Time (4).
The chances are it’s biggish prices bar two fillies. La Jolla Beach (6) ran third in a similar event to this one last time.
Charlotte's Spider (2) has tried a pair of stakes events since winning on debut. In that maiden, she beat Mo Money Time (4). She’s a possibility but Shes Acting Single (7) is of interest making the same drop in class as her.
She didn’t see to stay a mile last time and ran well in her two sprints prior to that. At her best, she may be capable of giving the favourites a race.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
20:31 Sunland Park (Race 6) - Storm Bayou @ SP
Trainer Dick Cappellucci is double-handed. Wheredoesthecashgo (2) is a veteran who still retains plenty of ability. He’s not raced since December when wiring a field in a fast time at Zia Park. That run makes him the runner to beat.
As his last victory came after a layoff, lack of a recent outing may not get him beaten. His stablemate Storm Bayou (6) is the obvious alternative. He makes a quick return after losing by a neck on his comeback a week ago. He gets the vote with one big worry.
Both The Cappellucci runners were ridden by Alfredo Juarez Jr. last time. He rarely picks the wrong horse and appears to prefer Wheredoesthecashgo (2).
The Cappellucci pair may dominate this. That said, there are a few that perk the interest at least for the forecast. The freshened up Trust Mando (4) may be the better of in form trainer Sherry Armstrong’s two runners. A slow pace up front played against American Solo (5) last time. The late runner may get a better set up
Based on his four-length victory last month, Lonzo Who (3) is a big player. He may be softened up duelling with Wheredoesthecashgo (2) early on. Musics My Vice (7) can sit off the early speed and run his race. If a trainer change doesn’t see him regress, he can make his presence felt.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
20:57 Sunland Park (Race 7) - Go Water @ SP
The class plunging On My Mark (4) is the filly to beat. She went close in maiden special weights at Zia Park in November and December. On her return here last month, she was a below par third. Second time back and now running first time for sale are angles for thinking she will finally get her head in front.
Trainer Greg Green is triple-handed. All of them have upside. Scottie Jo (3) ran well for a long way on her career debut. She’s a likely improver especially now racing with Lasix. Likewise stablemates On the Toe Road (1) and Weekendatbernsters (7). The last named is another running in a maiden claimer for the first time.
Ulooklikeuloveme (2) and Lincoln County War (8) are unexposed and go for capable trainers. Sapello City Girl (1) debuts for a trainer who has a super record in such situations.
Jockey bookings suggest W F American Honey (6) is the better of The Simon Buechler trained pair. Maybe her new stablemate Go Water (5) can post the upset.
She showed ability in her first three career starts and can be forgiven her last run. The ‘in’ with her is going from a trainer who hardly ever wins to a competent one. If that moves improves her a little, she can be right there when they are giving out the rosettes.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
