19:25 Sunland Park – Myfavoriteholiday (8) @ SP

Trainer Todd Fincher is double handed. His Itsgrandsalamitime (1) took money on debut but she faded after being crowded. She may come to life second time out, now running in blinkers. Her stablemate Channel Launch (2) has shown more. She is stoutly bred but has shown plenty of ability in three career starts sprinting. Last month, she was a four length second to a well touted stablemate. In her other two races, she finished behind Myfavoriteholiday (8).

That filly has finished second in a trio of career starts. On form, she is a big player. The icing on the cake is the trainer change. Her previous handler was surprisingly winless with getting on for thirty starters at this meet. She is now with high percentage trainer Justin Evans. That may be enough to get her over the hump.

Toni the Grrreat (10) has looked much improved since running with lasix. She may have won last time but for being held up in traffic. She's a solid place chance at least. Pink Moscato (6) improved second time at the races to run second in a maiden claimer. There may be better to come from her.

19:25 - Sunland Park (Race 1) - Winner Myfavoriteholiday

Odds correct at time of publishing.

20:15 Sunland Park - Sunscreen (8) @ SP

No trainer is ending this Sunland meet in better form than Martin Valdez. He is double handed here. His Indy's Song (2) came back to form when third in a slightly higher priced claimer last month. He is one for the shortlist in an open looking affair. His stablemate B a Champion (4) has not got quite got home over a mile in his last two starts. He has plenty of form sprinting and has the speed to be a factor from the outset.

Sherry Armstrong is another trainer who has been having plenty of winners in recent weeks. Her Golden Merger (1) outfinished B a Champion (4) over a mile in December. He may be a late player. His stablemate King Bryce (5) has more tactical speed. He had Reads Pet Zenon (7) just behind him when winning for today's claiming price last month.

In stark contrast to Martin Valdez and Sherry Armstrong, Chip Woolley has not had a winner with admittedly limited starters at this meet. That is a big negative for his Sunscreen (8). That said, he may be worth a small wager at a biggish price. He has been freshened up since a poor run on his return in February. The nine year old showed he retained plenty of ability Zia Park in November and December. He is reunited with Enrique Gomez who was aboard for his last two victories.

20:15 - Sunland Park (Race 3) - Winner Sunscreen

Odds correct at time of publishing.

20:40 Sunland Park - Rapid Expansion (8) @ SP

Some in form horses in this line up. Many go for trainers who are having fine meets. Jetfire (1) is two for two since cut back to sprinting. His four length victory over Comfort J Byrd (10) last month was given a boost when that runner came back to score. Race for Dough (3) has lost close ones since winning in January. Like Jetfire (1), he is speedy and may not be the only runner gunning for the lead.

Both The Sherry Armstrong pair are well worth considering. Rocks a Black Suit (6) looked a new horse running first time for her in February. He slammed a field of one time career winners by open lengths. There may be better to come from him. He may be the one to fear and is probably worth a saver. His stablemate Rapid Expansion (8) has plenty of upside. He doesn't stand much racing these days, winning on his return in December. He ran fourth next time in February, just behind Race for Dough (3) but did seem to race on the worse part of the track. He's been working well for his first start in eight weeks.

Comfort J Byrd (10) and Lovesunfair (7) ran one-two in a cheaper claimer last month. The form of that race was franked when two beaten runners came back to win. The pair may be up to this level. Midevil Mayhem (5) and Smoke Stack (11) come off fine efforts over a mile. They add depth to this race. So too does Maximum Bull (12). He gets some class relief after a decent third against New Mexico breds.

20:40 Sunland Park (Race 4) - Winner Rapid Expansion

Odds correct at time of publishing.
