Today's US Racing Odds

23:17 Turf Paradise (Race 7) - Socal Red @ SP

Trainer Justin Evans is double-handed. His Hapi Hapi (11) is a reserve so needs a scratch to get in this race.

He is very dangerous running first time for his trainer with the excellent Harry Hernandez taking the ride. Stablemate Mad Luther (8) is a nine-year-old having an Indian Summer. He was on a four-timer when going down by a neck in a starter event last month. Now back in claiming company, he looks the runner to beat.

Socal Red (2) may be a price against Mad Luther (8). He’s been running well on the turf. He came within a nose of rattling up a hat-trick on his last spell on dirt. The narrow loss came at the hands of Mad Luther (8). He was blocked late on. If he finds the gaps in the straight, he could reverse the form.

Surprise Fashion (3) ran a bit below his best when behind Mad Luther (8) in January.

He has the form to go well here. Winsitwell (1) is a possible upsetter if he makes the lead on his own. Kystone (7) and Nation of Faith (9) could come back to life now plunging in class. Dos Vicios (6) outfinished a field on the turf last time. He had form at bigger tracks on dirt that puts him right in the mix.

23:17 Turf Paradise (Race 7) - Winner Socal Red

Odds correct at time of publishing.

23:46 Turf Paradise (Race 8) - Sunglasses @ SP

There are a trio in here who ship in from out of state.

Of the pair from California, Tianma (7) will take the more money. She faced a stiff task on her first start at Santa Anita last month. Second time back, she may run to her best of her form in Canada. Sunglasses (1) looks more shaky after two heavy defeats in the Golden State. Her new trainer has turned around horses with dull form at this meet.

There is other speed in here but an aggressive ride from Adrian Castellanos could see her make the lead on her own. If that is the case, she could wire this field.

The best of the locals is Classy Lass (4). She has ran well in all four starts on the turf. The last three were in similar races to this one. In January, she had a trio of these behind her. The one who has a chance of reversing the form is Annie Fox (2).

She finished half a length behind her and was hung wide on both turns. She’s a price chance here.

Chainsaw City (5) has been racing at Sam Houston. The pick of her form on turf puts her right in the mix. Her one career victory came in September 2023. She has lost thirteen times since.

Maybe a trainer change and a good jockey booking will get over the hump.

23:46 Turf Paradise (Race 8) - Winner Sunglasses

Odds correct at time of publishing.

00:15 Turf Paradise (Race 9) - Square Deal @ SP

Square Deal (6) may be the answer to the nightcap here.

He was far from disgraced in a higher priced claimer on his return last month. That was a swiftly run race. The first three there would be odds on if in here. As he’d been away almost 10 months, he may improve for the that run.

Five furlongs may be a tad short but he should get speed to chase down. He would have been hard to have a few weeks ago as his trainer was bang out of form. That is not the case now with seven victories since the end of January.

If the selection doesn’t step up, runners like Now N Later Gator (2) could be a beneficiary. He’s in form and may improve now running for a more successful trainer. The speedy Mr. Shorty (5) would be dangerous if he can make the lead on his own.

The veteran Ship It Red (9) lost at odds on last month. That run can be ignored as he started slowly and was hung very wide. His third at this level prior to that is contending form.

00:15 Turf Paradise (Race 9) - Winner Square Deal

Odds correct at time of publishing.
