The feature race at Sunland Park on Friday is The Albert and Henry Dominguez Memorial Handicap. It’s a stake for New Mexico breds over an extended mile due off at 22:58. It’s a rematch between the one-two from a stake on 7 February. Let Him Be (5) beat I Think I'm Here (1) by half a length. That race was over six and a half furlongs. Let Him Be (5) did win a stake in his one start over a mile. Think I'm Here (1) is three from six over the distance. The front two in the market maybe something like 8/13 and 2/1. Those prices probably reflect their chances and wouldn’t make much appeal. Hopefully there are some tastier plays on the card below.
19:25 Sunland Park - Goddard @ 9/2
Trainer Dick Cappellucci has three of the seven runners entered. As they all ran against each other last month, there is no reason to think he won’t let the trio take their chances again. Then Bettor Trip Nick (5) beat Mithqaal (2) almost six lengths with Please the Court (1) back in fourth. Bettor Trip Nick (5) has a decent chance of doubling up. He may not have it easy on the front with Sexy Dexy (6) drawn outside him. He won a trio of at least good a races as this one in the second half of last year. He’s not raced since December but won first time back after his last two lay offs. He and Bettor Trip Nick (5) are the pair to beat.
Goddard (7) is likely up against it tackling quicker rivals but is a possible upsetter here. He has ran well in his last three starts over a mile. The seven year old is very effective as a late running sprinter. He plots to get plenty of speed to chase down. A small win bet on him and a couple of forecasts to be second to Bettor Trip Nick (5) and Sexy Dexy (6) may be rewarded.

19:51 Sunland Park - Latigo Ellis @ 5/2
Latigo Ellis (7) was cut back to today’s distance last month and duly landed the odds. This race looks deeper. In his favour is being drawn outside the other speed types in here. He probably has the pace to make the lead anyway. The four year old goes from one good trainer to another after being claimed last time.
The selection may have a couple of threats in deep stretch from stablemates Playing Field (3) and King Bryce (2). Both come off fine efforts and are worth considering if the selection is a short price. Playing Field (3) was close up third at today’s level last time over six furlongs. He has form over today’s distance. The form of that race has been given a boost twice. The fourth Mickeys Gold (4) went close next time. The runner up from that race went one better with King Bryce (2) third. The last named is consistent and is likely to be finishing strongly.
Latigo Ellis (6) had a troubled trip when behind King Bryce (2) last time. He may get closer with a cleaner journey.

21:09 Sunland Park - Sussums Girl @ 3/1
Chasenuinmydreams (6) freaked last month when winning in a fast time. Take that run in isolation and she only has claims similar to a few in this line up. There is a chance she is a tad overbet based on her last run. Cherokee Cherry (3) is likely to be a bigger price. She ran third over course and distance following a maiden win. Her trainer bought back privately after losing her in the claiming box.
Four of these ran in a slightly higher claimer over six furlongs here on 16 February. All of them have upside. Sheza Hailstorm (1) and Sussums Girl (5) contested the pace and faded late on. The cut back in distance should suit both. Sussums Girl (5) had been away four months since beating Chasenuinmydreams (6) at Albuquerque. She may improve second time back. Street Mark (7) did the best of that trio last month. She looks dangerous sat off what at likely contested early fractions.
