Horse Racing Tips: Jeremy Scott to take the feature at Wincanton

Jumps racing holds sway across the UK and Ireland on Thursday with four meetings taking place across the afternoon and into the evening. First off is Market Rasen, Leicester and Wincanton, before all weather action kicks off at Chelmsford.

14:40 Wincanton - Joe Cotton @ 7/2

After a few unlucky performances already this season, JOE COTTON looks poised for a deserved win in the feature race at Wincanton this Thursday.

Jeremy Scott’s charge has enjoyed life over fences having only finished outside the top three on one occasion from 12 runs.

The seven-year-old has also impressed so far this season having run well despite failing to get his head over the line first.

His previous performance threw a surprise, with the gelding looking the most likely winner down the straight but he could only muster a third-place finish.

Nevertheless, he’s a consistent type and the addition of a first time visor could do the trick in helping him return to the winners enclosure. He will also enjoy the additional benefit of Chad Bament claiming a handy 7lb.

15:10 Wincanton - I’m Your Buckaroo @ 13/2

A lot of these runners will feel they have a bit to prove coming into this contest suggesting it should be a very competitive race at Wincanton. While many have their plaudits the selection goes to I’M YOUR BUCKAROO for Gary and Josh Moore.

Having finished his last campaign with a victory over 3m1f, this five-year-old is expected to appreciate the extended distance.

His two runs this season have been over shorter trips, and while he has made good progress from the back of the field in both outings, he ultimately lacked the necessary turn of foot at the finish.

Furthermore, these two starts represent his only attempts over fences so far, suggesting this unexposed runner has significant potential for improvement in this discipline.

16:30 Chelmsford - Filly Foden @ 7/2

The first race at Chelmsford is a competitive nursery handicap over 5f and a case can be made for many of the runners. However, Alice Haynes’ FILLY FODEN looks primed to finally claim her first victory on the track.

Haynes’ juvenile filly has often run well in defeat, finishing either second or third seven times in her 12 career outings.

She also looks to be in good form after finishing a strong second at Wolverhampton last time out. She went off at a huge price that day and rallied well and was unfortunate to finish three-quarters of a length down to the short-priced favourite.

The filly arrives at Chelmsford stepping down in class and is rated 2lb lower for that performance at Wolverhampton. She is now at a mark of 61 which looks very manageable and she can finally shake her maiden tag.
