Flat racing holds sway across the UK and Ireland on Friday, with six meetings taking place throughout the afternoon and into the evening.

Among our Friday horse racing tips is one for trainer David O’Meara who went close on his last start.

15:05 Haydock - Sword @ 4/1

David O'Meara's gelding, SWORD, looks primed to finish one place better after his close-second last time out at Newcastle.

This son of Kingman was last inside the final three furlongs, but he travelled powerfully to pursue a challenge inside the final 110yds and just failed by half a length to overcome a rival who had the first run on him. That form hasn't been tested yet, but it looks rock-solid.

Now returning with regular rider Danny Tudhope, he should be primed to enter the winners' enclosure for the first time since June.

18:00 Newcastle - Dublin Bay @ 5/1

Ollie Sangster's gelding, DUBLIN BAY, has been in terrific form this season and now looks capable of returning to winning ways.

This son of New Bay has won twice in 2025, triumphing comfortably at Ffos Las and Doncaster. He then went on to finish a close sixth in a very competitive nursery at the York Festival, just failing by roughly two lengths.

He was unable to make an impact at Salisbury on his last start, but the ground was heavy that day, and that was his first time on testing conditions, so he had fair excuses for that tame effort.

Now back on a sounder surface, he should make a strong bid to get back in the winners' enclosure.

20:00 Newcastle - King's School @ 11/1

Look out for KING'S SCHOOL at Newcastle, as Gemma Tutty's gelding appears capable of rediscovering some winning form.

This son of Lightning Spear has developed into a Newcastle specialist, winning three times at the track and placing on a further seven occasions since joining Tutty's yard last year.

He won well on his penultimate start after a summer rest, showing a willing attitude that day after missing the break and having to battle to overcome a poor start. That form has substance, as three horses behind King’s School in the race have won since.

Tutty's talented four-year-old then backed that up with a good run to finish third last time out. He should go well again on Friday.
