Saturday Horse Racing Tips: Doll set to build on debut promise

There's some top-quality jumps action scheduled in both Britain and Ireland on Saturday alongside a pair of competitive AW cards.
First off is Fairyhouse (13:00), closely followed by Newcastle (13:05), Kempton (13:10), Lingfield (13:25) and Chepstow (13:40), while Chelmsford's evening Flat fixture gets underway at 17:30. Amongst my Saturday Horse Racing Tips is one of Simon and Ed Crisford's who shaped with plenty of encouragement on last month’s Wolverhampton debut.
Saturday Horse Racing tips - February 21
- 14:38 Fairyhouse - Blow Wind Blow @ 7/1
- 15:00 Kempton - Matiwo @ 14/1
- 19:30 Chelmsford - Denver Doll @ 7/4
*Odds correct as of the time of publication
14:38 Fairyhouse - Blow Wind Blow @ 7/1
The Enda Bolger-trained BLOW WIND BLOW has improved each time he's stepped foot onto the racecourse and makes plenty of appeal now going handicapping.
The five-year-old ran green and was never a factor when well beaten on his debut over 2m at Gowran Park in November and he suffered similar wide-margin defeats at Navan and Naas subsequently, albeit running to much-improved Racing Post Ratings of 94 and 98.
However, he took a sizeable step forward when upped to 2m7f at Thurles last month, the JP McManus-owned gelding seeing his race out strongly to score by double digits under Mark Walsh.
He drops back to 2m4f this afternoon, but stamina will be key in the testing conditions and an opening mark of 110 should be well within his capabilities, having run within 6lb of that when opening his account.
15:00 Kempton - Matiwo @ 14/1
Jane Williams does extremely well with her French recruits and she looks to have another talented sort on her hands in the shape of MATIWO, who made short work of the well-regarded Apollon Forlonge at Newbury last month.
The four-year-old, who’d pulled hard in behind the leaders prior to falling at Cheltenham before Christmas, went with plenty of enthusiasm out in front at the Berkshire track and quickened clear from the second-last, winning eased down to score by seven lengths.
He's still quite unfurnished in terms of physical appearance, so we're likely only just scratching the surface with him in terms of his ability. Indeed, his trainer reported that he'd done very little at home since his tumble and she had concerns about his fitness.
Now rated 119, he's got 11lb to find with the best of these on the book, but he's open to untold improvement and represents excellent each-way value at double figure odds.
19:30 Chelmsford - Denver Doll @ 7/4
The Simon and Ed Crisford-trained DENVER DOLL shaped with plenty of promise when third on her debut at Wolverhampton last month and could be hard to beat with that experience behind her.
The daughter of Mehmas, who cost 150,000gns as a yearling, ran to a Racing Post Rating of only 64 when beaten three-and-a-half lengths, but she showed notable greenness at various stages on that occasion under Harry Davies, suggesting there is major improvement to come.
Only a pound separates Bee My Honey and Welljudged, who set the standard with official ratings of 73 and 72 respectively, but they're both four-year-olds and could struggle to concede 17lb to the selection.
