National Hunt action comes from Southwell on Tuesday afternoon. Seven races, 12.40 - 15.40.

Decent field sizes, and the presence of a certain in-form dynamic duo in Cobden and Nicholls.

Should be a cracking card. Enjoy!

Southwell tips, Tuesday

12.40 Tom Creen @ 7/4

A competitive-looking handicap chase to kick off the card, and a selection in splendid form since reappearing in October.

Tom Creen is in the care of team England, with Sam doing the training and Jonathan the steering. This gelding produced a career-best last time at Sedgefield in a Class 5 and steps up a notch here over a similar trip.

He won 'going away' in the words of the Racing Post, giving hope that the 8-yr-old's improvement might not be at an end. He's a much better chaser than he was a hurdler, and is doing connections proud.

This is a nice flat track which shouldn't impose any great stamina examination, and that finishing kick displayed in County Durham could well be evident on Wednesday in Nottinghamshire.

Every now and then you've just got to take a stand and follow your instinct. Here we have a concrete example with this unraced mare by Kayf Tara, but she's in the hands of the mighty Skelton operation.

This is a National Hunt flat race, and she gets the very handy 7lb fairer sex allowance. A Nicholls inmate heads the market, predictably, and of course he could be useful. Dan and Harry are having winners though, including an all-the-way Kempton success on Monday.

We're getting what I feel is a decent price about a runner from a tip-top yard in a smaller midweek contest. That'll do for me - small stakes of course.
