Salisbury Tips: Roman Princess ready to rule

There are six UK and Irish meetings taking place on Wednesday and amongst them will be an evening offering from Salisbury on the Flat. They race at Salisbury from 18:00-20:40, with conditions underfoot at the Wiltshire circuit forecast to be 'good-good to firm in places'.
We have selected a trio of runners worth looking out for our Salisbury tips, including Roman Princess after a much-improved effort last time put her in sight of shedding her maiden tag.
Salisbury Tips - Wednesday, July 24
18:00 – Roman Princess @ 16/1
The action at Salisbury commences with the Highclere Castle Horse Feeds 'Carnarvon' Amateur Jockeys' Handicap over 7f and the call is to side with ROMAN PRINCESS for trainer John Stimpson.
The mare has just six starts behind her and produced easily her best effort last time. She was sporting first-time cheekpieces in a Classified contest at Wolverhampton over 7f and made stealthy late progress from the rear to finish second, unable to peg back a three-year-old rival that was in receipt of a chunk of weight.
Though her two previous dalliances in handicaps saw her failing to beat a rival home, that last-time-out effort was a very positive move in the right direction. The cheekpieces are retained now and rider Adam O'Shea can take a handy 5lb off in the saddle. If that improvement is replicated – or better still built on – the maiden tag may go.
19:40 – Bama Lama @ 11/2
The minimum 5f is the trip for the 10 runners in the Highclere Castle 'The Perfect Gin' Handicap and it features a couple of last-time-out winners in Notre Mission and BAMA LAMA, with preference for the latter.
The Equiano mare scored for trainer Rod Millman at Ffos Las (5f, good to soft) this month, making it two wins in her last four and extending her excellent recent figures to read 3313221 since the start of May.
She's taking her racing really well and that win in Wales a fortnight ago has been advertised since, as the second won at Bath and the third home went very close back at Ffos Las.
Bama Lama races from only 2lb higher now and while this career-high mark demands more, she gets on well with claiming rider Oliver Searle and must be feared in her current mood.
20:40 – Godsend @ 8/13
The nightcap is a stayers' contest over an extended 1m6f trip and can go to GODSEND for Sir Mark Prescott and Luke Morris.
The Nathaniel gelding was a winner at Ripon (1m4f, good to firm) earlier this month, notching his breakout success on just his second start beyond a mile.
He was expected to follow up next time at Ffos Las over the same trip, this time on good to soft, but things didn't pan out.
The winner set steady fractions in front and was then able to kick clear late on, with Godsend settling for second best.
A pair of cheekpieces are added now and Luke Morris' partner should relish the extra quarter of a mile on offer. She was inched up 1lb for that silver medal but once more drops to Class 6 company now and can make amends.
