Road To Cheltenham 2024: Tully to come up the hill best in the Supreme?

Road To Cheltenham

After a quiet week, there wasn't a shedload of Festival hopefuls to discuss on Episode 12 of The Road To Cheltenham - but there was at least one.

That was Willie Mullins' Tullyhill, who staked his claim for the Supreme Novices' Hurdle by bolting up in a Listed contest at Punchestown on Sunday.

Matt Hulmes, Frankie Foster and Joel Ross discuss the six-year-old's credentials for the curtain-raiser, for which he is now as short as 4/1 at Betfred, and try to decipher how Mr. Mullins will split up his novices. Wouldn't we all like to know...

L'Homme Presse was another horse put under the microscope. Is he still a Gold Cup contender after his defeat to Pic D'Orhy at Ascot last weekend? Backers of Venetia Williams' stable star will be pleased to hear the lads' thoughts.

And what about Ahoy Senor, who was third in that same race? There was a general consensus about what his Festival target should be and how he should be ridden.

As I write this on Tuesday morning, the handicap entries will be released in a couple of hours and the panel put forward a few horses to watch in that regard. Unmissable stuff.

Finally, it was time for another round of antepost tips!

For Frankie, it's a confident vote for a 3/1 shot in a race he reckons will cut up plenty in the coming weeks, while for Joel it's one at 33s for the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle.

Matt kept to the handicaps, putting up a 10/1 shot for the Ultima, who is also firmly on my radar. What is it they say about great minds thinking alike?
