Plumpton Tips: Delpotro to ace latest test

It's not just Aintree where the jumps action takes place on Thursday, there's also a six-race afternoon offering from Plumpton.
The Sussex venue races from 13:55-16:50 and below are three tips from the card.
Plumpton Tips - Thursday, April 3
13:55 Plumpton – Delpotro @ 6/5
Jolyjump looked the likeliest winner of this Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Chase, but he was declared a non-runner and that should open the door for DELPOTRO to ace his way to a first victory over fences for Charlie Longsdon.
The five-year-old went straight over fences on his racecourse bow at Worcester (2m½f, soft) in September and was well beaten, but he showed ability afterwards at Fakenham and Wincanton before a lacklustre run at Catterick in December when he was pulled up.
He was given a break after that and returned with another solid showing to be six-lengths third of six at Sedgefield (2m½f, good) last month.
The frontrunner didn't quite last home there but it was a decent effort and he was only just denied second spot in the dying strides.
He acts on good ground and has been eased 1lb by the assessor, while Elizabeth Gale lessens his burden to the tune of 10lb. This looks like a good spot for them.

15:05 Plumpton – Bella Cavalla @ 4/1
Trainer Neil Mulholland has a strong hand to play in this Dine & Stay At The Jolly Sportsman Handicap Hurdle over three-miles-and-a-furlong, with both Abbeyhill and BELLA CAVALLA in the mix.
The former is tried in a pair of first-time blinkers under Conor O'Farrell and reverts to this discipline after toiling since going chasing this season. He could be on a nice mark.
The mare, meanwhile, is having her first run since November and is still awaiting a first win over hurdles after 10 starts.
She signed off 2024 with three good efforts at Fontwell and this venue, twice over track and trip, under varying tactics. She's operating from a basement mark and Harriet Tucker's 7lb claim further eases the burden. If she returns in a similar mood, this race is far from strong and looks winnable.

16:50 Plumpton - Rip Wheeler @ 9/4
An immediate step up in distance for Gary & Josh Moore's RIP WHEELER is no major surprise following his handicap debut at Sandown in February.
The Walk In The Park gelding hadn't shown a lot in his three qualifying runs and started off from an opening mark of 98 in a 2m Class 4 event for conditional riders.
He was outpaced but plugged on to finish fourth behind the experienced Casa Loupi, as his stablemate won for the fourth time over timber.
Rip Wheeler has been eased 3lb by the assessor now and should find this extra half-mile and change in his favour.
