There are no fewer than seven meetings on the agenda across the UK and Ireland on Friday, with our focus on Newmarket’s six-race offering from HQ.

The going is expected to be good to firm for the opening contest at 14:05, with the action running all the way through to 17:00.

Betfred’s “Extra Place” promotion is available at 14:40, and one of our three tips will run in that handicap contest, with four places up for grabs.

Newmarket Tips – Friday 25 August, 2023

  • 14:05 – Dream Whisper @ 13/8
  • 14:40 – Twilight Dancer @ 5/2
  • 15:50 – Leadenhall @ 13/8

14:05 – Dream Whisper @ 13/8

There is nothing to consider in the formbook of DREAM WHISPER, who has yet to race for connections.

Owners Godolphin will hope the two-year-old has a bright future and they have seen trainer Charlie Appleby win this race twice since 2020.

Although Dream Whisper has yet to run in a competitive race, the booking of William Buick should help settle her down and Appleby’s runner can start life with a hard-fought win, with Imitate also expected to run a big race.

14:40 – Twilight Dancer @ 5/2

From one extreme to the other, as TWILIGHT DANCER prepares to run for the 10th time for connections on Friday.

Jonathan Portman’s runner has taken her time to find her feet, starting her career with consecutive sixth-place finishes at Lingfield last winter.

Earlier this year, Twilight Dancer finished second at Wolverhampton before dropping back down the field at Southwell and Kempton, securing sixth and seventh, respectively.

Another break seems to have done the trick, though, and Portman has seen his runner finish third twice, in between two wins at Epsom and Salisbury.

Fortunately for connections, Twilight Dancer has escaped a penalty for that win at Salisbury nine days ago, so she is expected to make it back-to-back successes.

15:50 – Leadenhall @ 13/8

Ralph Beckett’s LEADENHALL is on the hunt for a second successive victory after a recent success at Haydock and a 5lb penalty may not be enough to stop his momentum.

Leadenhall beat Harlem Nights in that race 13 days ago and the pair will compete for glory once again. Harlem Nights has since won at Doncaster, but Beckett now seems to be getting the best out of his charge.

The manner of his two-length victory at Haydock cannot be forgotten quickly and, if he is in the same form, he should have too much quality for his rival once again.
