Newcastle Tips: The price is right for Open Market on Tuesday

There’s a bumper NINE-race card on the Tapeta at Newcastle on Tuesday evening which gets underway at 16:05 and is highlighted by a pair of five-furlong handicaps.
Below are a few tips for the occasion - including the re-appearing Open Market for Karl Burke.
17:15 - Open Market @ 10/1
Open Market has been freshened up over the summer and Karl Burke’s charge returns off a 158-day break in the first division of the five furlong handicap at 17:15.
The three-year-old won a Cork maiden on debut for Paddy Twomey and she cut a useful performer on that run.
Open Market has been running continuously well, finishing second on three of her last five starts before disappointing a little at Carlisle on her latest run.
The three-year-old has looked awkward under pressure in the past, but she has been given a nice break and has a freshness advantage over the bulk of the field this evening.
Burke has had time to iron out any issues the daughter of Starspangledbanner has been suffering from and she can clearly go well fresh judging by her debut victory in Ireland.
19:30 - Cheese The One @ 9/1
Cheese The One finished fourth at Wolverhampton last time out, but the four-year-old was beaten only half a length and that run can also be upgraded.
Stella Barclay’s charge was the only runner to come from off a slow pace at Dunstall Park and that effort suggests a win won’t be far away.
The daughter of Outstrip has won over six furlongs at Newcastle and she has also won over today’s trip of seven furlongs. Tuesday’s conditions look ideal and the likely strong pace of this evening’s contest will suit the four-year-old well.
There’s a big field for this basement grade handicap, but many of Cheese The One’s rivals are badly out of form and the Barclay’s charge looks a cracking bet.
20:30 - Sydney Bay @ 11/4
Sydney Bay bids for a hat-trick of Newcastle wins in the six furlong handicap at 20:30 and Geoff Harker’s runner looks to hold a massive chance.
The four-year-old scored well over course and distance on stable debut 21 days ago and the gelding followed over track and trip seven days ago.
Sydney Bay stayed on well to score last time out and a third successive Newcastle victory awaits Harker’s runner on Tuesday evening.
