Newcastle Tips: Warming can raise the temperature

There are plenty of potential wagers, with three meetings taking place across the UK on Thursday.
Among them will be an all-weather card from Newcastle, where they have seven races from 3.37 to 7.40 on a surface forecast to be standard to slow.
We've picked out a trio to follow at Gosforth Park, including the trip-dropping filly Warming.
Newcastle Tips
15:37 Newcastle - Spirit Of Ash @ 2/1
A 2m handicap opens the card at Newcastle and Teofilo mare SPIRIT OF ASH must have a good chance for trainer Tristan Davidson.
The thriving five-year-old has been on a roll this winter and ran right up to her best when a keeping-on second over 1m4f here last month.
That doesn’t tell the full story, as she was almost last turning for home in a desperately slowly run affair, only giving best to a much better-positioned rival.
The pace forecast looks weak in this, and speed over stamina could easily be tested once more. Nobody will be as well equipped to deal with a dash for home as 1m2f winner Spirit Of Ash, and she gets the nod to continue her recent progression under Jason Hart.
17:10 Newcastle - August @ 11/4
Owners The Horse Watchers and trainer Mick Appleby are always a team to note and AUGUST, who has acquitted himself well on both starts for these new connections, can notch his first career success in the mile handicap.
August is exceptionally well bred, as a son of Almanzor whose dam raced at the Breeders’ Cup, and he has progressed since joining Appleby from the John and Thady Gosden yard, finishing second twice, latterly behind smart prospect Bystander.
Bystander is set to tackle the following novice race on the card and could have his form franked beforehand by this lightly raced four-year-old, who might just have been generously treated by the assessor as he gets to race off the same mark of 74.
There should be plenty more to come and he boasts the strongest claims in this competitive heat, particularly in light of an advantageous draw in 11 by the stands’ side rail.
18:10 Newcastle - Warming @ 5/2
George Boughey sends WARMING on the long trip up from Newmarket and she can break her maiden in the 6f handicap.
Warming just turned three, as the rest of this field did on Monday, and she is bred to be precocious and speedy, as her sire Too Darn Hot won the Dewhurst and her dam landed an all-weather 7f two-year-old conditions event.
This keen-going filly, who didn’t see out her races over further, should be suited by dropping back to a sprinting trip in first-time cheekpieces, while Boughey is 2-3 when teaming up with Jason Hart at the track.
The trainer also has an excellent record with handicap debutants over the past five seasons (+£35.89 profit to £1 stakes) and Warming is worth trusting to add to that success with the promise of more to come.
