If you're going to watch any race on Tuesday, I suggest it's the 15:00 Musselburgh.

A 0-95 handicap over 1m1f for three-year-olds and above, the field is headed by a couple of classy individuals in Haayimm and High Degree.

Initially, my eyes were drawn to the latter for William Haggas. The four-year-old son of Too Darn Hot has run well in defeat twice already this season and the handicapper has been kind in leaving his mark of 92 alone after a fine effort at Sandown last time out.

However, he's won just one of eight career starts in his career to date. His last four? Beaten favourite. Beaten favourite. Beaten favourite. Beaten favourite.

He's finding ways to lose, which is perhaps no great surprise given how keenly he goes about business, even after a gelding operation. That's a bad trait and he's unreliable until proving otherwise.

Horse Racing Odds

He could be up against it even if doing everything right, for there's lots to like about HAAYIMM for Edward Bethell in the yellow silks of Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum.

The three-year-old son of Gleneagles fetched 230k guineas as a yearling in October 2024 and he's shown plenty of ability in his short career to date.

A poor debut at Beverley last September led to a gelding operation the following month - and this April he opened his account at Pontefract, beating the 100-rated, 1/8f Arabian Desert for the Faheys.

Initially, it was suggested that the runner-up didn't run his race, but that theory needs reworking after the selection's narrow defeat at Hamilton last month.

He was just touched off by Andrew Balding's Conclave, who went on to finish sixth in the Britannia Stakes at Royal Ascot, and finished four-and-a-half lengths clear of Proud Nation. That one's respectable effort in a Chester handicap next time out off a mark of 87 reads well.

There's a good chance this lightly-raced type is ahead of his mark of 95 and I fancy he'll prove as much in Scotland on Tuesday.
