Nap of the day with owen mcmahon

The recent dry weather means we've had a few non-runners on this Nap of the Day column, so hopefully we at least get a run for our money on Tuesday.

It's fair to say I'm expecting a lot more than that, mind, from an exciting prospect for a red-hot team.

The Twiston-Davies' always make a quick start to the season, and the story is no different this year.

Nigel & Willy are operating at an impressive 32% strike rate in the past fortnight, courtesy of seven winners from 22 runners.

One of those was the exciting point-to-point recruit Masked Man, unleashed at the Welsh Racing Festival at Chepstow last weekend, providing optimism that the equally-promising UN SENS A LA VIE will be ready to show his worth after a layoff at Market Rasen on Tuesday.

The five-year-old son of Muhtathir, who represents the syndicate involving the great Sir Alex Ferguson, fetched £180k at the sales in November last year following a couple of runs between the flags - including a defeat to Theflyingking, who features in my Five to Follow for the season.

He debuted under rules here in Lincolnshire back in February, winning a seven-runner bumper by a widening three-and-a-half lengths.

That form is relatively decent, too. The runner-up, Espresso Milan, finished a respectable seventh of 22 on his subsequent start at the Punchestown Festival - and the third-placed Forward Thinking was sent off EVSf after an encouraging debut at Warwickshire a couple of months prior.

Un Sens A La Vie is sure to be well schooled and if he's got anywhere near as much natural ability as his profile and bumper suggests, he should take plenty of beating in Tuesday's maiden hurdle over an extended mile.

Fergal O'Brien's Heart Over Head would be a danger if recovering his debut form, but that was over a year-and-a-half ago and he's been bitterly disappointing over hurdles since. Cuillin Ridge, the only other runner with experience over flights, is impossible to advise on what he's shown to date.

Pioneer Pete for the O'Neills boasts okay bumper form and he can't be ruled out, while flat recruits Star Pupil, Westernesse and Free Pic are given a squeak. That's about all they're given, though.

He's priced accordingly, but this looks a fantastic opportunity for Un Sens A La Vie to get his jumping career off to a flying start.
