Nap of the Day: Rockstown Girl ready to make her mark

Sunday's racing quota in Britain and Ireland comprises four meetings, with two over jumps and two on the Flat. The Welsh Champion Hurdle is the main event as Chepstow concludes their Welsh Racing Festival meeting, while they go jumping too at Cork. On the Flat, racing is from Goodwood and Naas.

Sunday's Nap of the Day is looking to land a first win over fences and appears to have found a nice opportunity amongst some rivals with major questions to answer at Cork.

Just four runners are set to contest this Rated Novice Chase at Cork, with Gavin Cromwell's Kazakh D'arthel likely to head the betting.

He faced some difficult tests over fences last season but it can't be escaped that he had two falls and one unseat in just five runs over fences.

He also unseated his rider over hurdles at Galway last month on his comeback from a layoff, though he did run well since, coming fourth in a handicap hurdle off a mark of 108 at Navan.

There are real reasons to be wary of his jumping at this point and the door could be opened for ROCKSTOWN GIRL to slip through for trainer Anthony McCann.

She also unseated on her only start over fences at Wexford in May but she can be forgiven as her rivals that day, Aspire Tower (first) and Foxy Gal (third), are two quality performers from the Henry De Bromhead team and there isn't anything close to that level in the mix now.

Rockstown Girl is a winner of a bumper and over hurdles already and might not find a more presentable opportunity to complete the set than what she meets here.

She comes into this race fit from a spin over hurdles last month after her summer layoff, finishing fourth of 16, and with that likely to prove beneficial, she is well placed.

She also has a handy 7lb pull with her three rivals by virtue of Eoghan Finegan's claim in the saddle and he has enough experience in point-to-point to believe he's well worth trusting.
