Nap of the day

The Cheltenham Festival has finished for another year but the racing world takes little time to take stock and Sunday sees three meetings taking place across the UK and Ireland, with the highlight the Irish Lincolnshire at the Curragh.

Our expert has picked out their strongest fancy of the day which runs in that Irish Lincolnshire and the horse in question has a jockey on board who has just enjoyed a winner at the Cotswolds showpiece.

16:20 Curragh Odds

Those drawn high have held sway in recent runnings of the Irish Lincolnshire and jockey Colin Keane, fresh from his success on The Mourne Rambler in the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham, might have got on the right one in AKECHETA, who is drawn in 24.

Keane backed up his Festival success by finishing in the frame on four of his five rides at Dundalk on Friday, decent form which saw him end up second three times without being able to boost his winners' tally.

And, of course, Keane has plenty of experience at the Curragh, having won the Irish Derby once, the Irish Oaks once and the Irish 2000 Guineas on two occasions.

Kevin Coleman's grey mare kicked off her last campaign with a fine second over this track and trip, when returning from a similar break to this, and held her form well after that.

Her forays over the Irish Sea were largely successful, managing second at the Derby meeting, fourth at Glorious Goodwood and runner-up to one who went on to complete a hat-trick at York.

Things didn't go her way in a Doncaster Listed race when last seen, but she had loads to find at the weights and actually ran much better than a beaten distance of around 14 lengths suggests.

She doubled her winning tally at Gowran Park in amongst those runs, producing a personal best in the process.

That was a smooth success on her first run over 7f since scoring on her debut at Tipperary.
