Nap of the Day: Go West is Owen’s advice for Day 2 at Cheltenham

It's always nice to get off to a good start at the Cheltenham Festival and Nap of the Day followers did exactly that, courtesy of Old Park Star in the Supreme. Lovely jubbly.

Fingers crossed we can make it 2-2 on Wednesday, with a 14/1 each-way selection coming in the second race on the card.

I would love it (alright, Kevin Keegan) if Kaid d'Authie wins the Brown Advisory at Cheltenham on Wednesday, having tipped Willie Mullins' six-year-old antepost at 33/1.

He's got every chance, but I'm worried about the drying ground. He'll act on it, but I think he wants a proper test to be seen to his best.

The one who will relish conditions, no question, is WESTERN FOLD, who I think is almost an insulting price at time of publication.

Gordon Elliott's seven-year-old caught the eye in defeat to the aforementioned Kaid d'Authie in the Grade 1 over 2m5½f at the Dublin Racing Festival last month.

Although he was four-and-a-quarter lengths adrift in the end, the son of Westerner can be marked up on account of a couple of things.

Firstly, it wasn't his ground. While officially 'soft', it's worth remembering the track was under water just a few days before.

Secondly, it was his return from 92 days on the sidelines. Gordon Elliott has since admitted his Galway Plate winner needed the run - big time.

Western Fold's formbook reads as well as any in this field. His victory in an open-company Grade 2 at Gowran Park back in October was advertised and then some by the runner-up Affordale Fury, beaten four-and-a-quarter lengths, winning the Savills Chase at Christmas.

His subsequent third in the highest grade at Down Royal, behind Gold Cup hopeful Envoi Allen and the aforementioned Affordale Fury, is another very strong piece of form for a novice.

The diversion of Romeo Coolio to the Brown Advisory on Wednesday means Jack Kennedy has jumped ship, but Danny Gilligan is a very capable replacement - and crucially he already has a good partnership with the horse having ridden him in his last six starts before the DRF.

I can't comprehend why he's a double-figure price, for all this looks a brilliant renewal of the Brown Advisory, and for me there's no better bet on Wednesday.
