Nap of the Day: More to come from Grandchamp at Huntingdon

With no Irish racing taking place this weekend, we’ve only got two British meetings to look forward to. Huntingdon hosts a seven-race card and the ground is currently described as good to soft, whilst conditions at Ffos Las are much worse with the going heavy.
Racing gets under way at Huntingdon at 13:45 and the last race of the day is Ffos Las’ finale at 17:00. The race of the day is the Class 3 CopyBet John Bigg 'Oxo' Handicap Chase, for which a field of six has been declared, and our Nap of the Day is amongst them. Our Nap of the Day returned to winning ways last time out and the Gary & Josh Moore-trained runner looks well set to follow up.

There’s a decent prize fund of £19,000 on offer for this Class 3 event and of the six runners, it’s ICARE GRANDCHAMP who makes the most appeal. Owned by Harry Redknapp, he has a rock-solid record over fences and carries a nice light weight here.
The son of Kapgarde failed to win in seven starts over hurdles but he has three wins and three placed efforts to his name in just eight starts over fences. His first win came at Newton Abbot in June 2024 and he battled on well to score by just shy of a length.
He returned to winning ways just two starts later at Southwell and an excellent jump at the final fence sealed a length-and-a-quarter success. Returning from a lengthy absence at Newbury in December, it’s no surprise that he looked in need of the run that day.
It was a much improved performance at Haydock after that, sticking to his task well to finish second to an in-form rival. That was a sign of things to come, as he returned to winning ways with a thoroughly professional display at Plumpton.
Chris Gordon’s Alto Alto chased him all the way to the line but Icare Grandchamp always had the upper hand and the front two were well clear of the rest.
A career-best will be required now having been raised 4lb since but there could easily be more to come.
Reallyntruthfully looks like one of the biggest dangers, having won well at Fontwell on his penultimate start and he is better than he showed at Exeter last month, while Mahons Glory has some decent form in better races and shouldn’t be dismissed either.
