Our NAP of the Day column is going great guns at the moment, with six winners from our last seven suggestions.

Taken to extend that run on Wednesday is an Olly Murphy-trained five-year-old who makes his hurdling debut at Bangor.

NAP of the Day

  • 17:05 Bangor-on-Dee – Act Of Authority @ 11/4

Considering he cost £200,000 after a PTP victory in March last year, it’s hard to imagine connections weren’t at least a little disappointed that ACT OF AUTHORITY failed to win a bumper last season.

However, in hindsight his form looks quite strong. Florida Dreams, who beat the son of Authorized at Musselburgh in January, went on to claim the G2 bumper at the Aintree Festival a few months later – while his conqueror at Taunton in March, Secret Squirrel, also won next time out and looks a nice type in his own right.

I can see Olly Murphy’s five-year-old winning plenty of races this season – hopefully starting at Bangor on Wednesday, when he takes on eight rivals in a maiden hurdle over 2m½f.

You have to respect Donald McCain’s Dino Bellagio on his two bumper victories, but they came either side of a couple of complete no-shows and he’s hard to be trusted. That yard is also in poor form right now.

Murphy, meanwhile, is in great nick. He’s operating at a 40% strike rate, with four wins from his last 10 runners. That gives me confidence that Act Of Authority will be ready to go first time up.

Famous last words, but I don’t fear his other seven rivals. Major Fortune has been a major disappointment and Fandabidozi, as brilliant a name that is, is rated 102. I’d be gobsmacked if the selection isn’t better than them, let alone those further down the betting.

I think 11/4 is an attractive opening price about Act Of Authority providing us yet another winning NAP.
