Nap of the Day: Take 5/1 about Daly runner in Wednesday’s Pertemps Qualifier

After back-to-back winners on Saturday and Tuesday, I'm bidding for a Nap of the Day hat-trick when I go to Market Rasen on Wednesday for one in a fascinating-looking Pertemps Qualifier.
Nap of the Day - Wednesday, November 27
- 13:50 Market Rasen - Supreme Gift @ 5/1
I tipped Henry Daly's SUPREME GIFT to win the first Pertemps Qualifier of the 2024/25 National Hunt season at Cheltenham's October meeting and he failed to oblige, but I'm giving him another chance at Market Rasen on Wednesday.
The seven-year-old son of Getaway travelled well for a long way at Prestbury Park, but he weakened relatively quickly turning for home - a sign he needed the run - and ultimately finished seventh.
I think that was a very strong Qualifier, though. The winner, The Wallpark, was bought by JP McManus soon after and is now being talked as a potential Stayers' Hurdle contender despite being guaranteed a run in the Final, while the second and fifth have since franked the form.
Fast-forward 32 days and Daly is in great form - he's operating at a 26 per cent strike rate courtesy of five winners from 19 runners in the past fortnight - and I expect a much-improved performance from the selection, who's been dropped a pound by the handicapper.
He's weighted to reverse placings with Harbour Lake, who went up six pounds for winning the Qualifier at Aintree the other week. The pair met at Cheltenham back in April and Supreme Gift is eight pounds better off here for a ¾-length defeat.
The odds suggest otherwise. Harbour Lake (10/3) is shorter than Supreme Gift (5/1), which is generous as far as I'm concerned.
The selection is also four pounds better off with Idem, who was eighth at HQ, and I expect that form to be confirmed - while I would give What A Johnny and West To The Bridge nothing more than modest claims.
It's Skyjack Hijack we've got to worry about. I'm a big fan of Jennie Candlish's six-year-old, who bids for a six-timer here. He could easily have more to give off a mark of 132 (19lbs higher), but at current prices I'm happy to take a chance that the handicapper has caught him up, or that this proves one race too many.
I'm hopeful Supreme Gift will come on plenty for his seasonal reappearance and if things don't go to plan for the favourite, he'll be there to pick up the pieces.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
