NAP of the Day: Or should I say NAPs?

Do not use owen mcmahon's nap of the day

All my interests on Tuesday are a little shorter than I'd hoped, so I'm gone for a NAP of the Day double!

NAP of the Day

  • 12:15 Sedgefield - Recoup @ 4/5
  • 15:30 Tramore - Where's My Jet @ 8/11

Double @ 2/1

The first leg of the double is Recoup in the opener - a novices' hurdle over 2m1f - at Sedgefield.

Fergal O'Brien's four-year-old son of Sea The Stars, who carries a seven-pound penalty for winning a novice event at Ludlow late last month, is confidently taken to follow up in this modest novice contest.

The form of that Ludlow victory has been franked with Choccabloc, who was over 11 lengths clear of the rest of the field, going on to win next time out, and Recoup's only realistic rival on Tuesday looks to be What A Johnny, who also has a penalty to contend with.

The race he won was extremely weak, however, and his form doesn't hold a candle to the selection's, who has an outstanding chance of getting us off to a flyer.

Then, just over three hours later, it's the bumper at Tramore that's piqued my interest. Mullins' in the bumper, to be precise.

Where's My Jet was sent to Closutton after showing plenty of promise in a bumper, won by his new trainer's My Great Mate, at the Galway Festival.

That race has been franked numerous times since and the selection - a four-year-old son of Jet Away - easily sets the standard in this field of nine.

A replication of that effort should be enough to see him take this, but expect a fair amount of improvement now he's under the stewardship of arguably the best National Hunt trainer of all time.

I see no reason why he can't get off the mark here and, hopefully, secure the double.
