There’s five meetings across the UK & Ireland on Tuesday, and I’ve picked out an Alice Haynes-trained juvenile who runs at Yarmouth as my NAP of the Day.
NAP of the Day
- 15:25 Yarmouth – Manhattan Mirage @ EVS
Name a jockey not named Ryan Moore that’s been better than Rossa Ryan this season? The list isn’t long, if it even exists at all.
Since being removed as Amo Racing’s retained rider, the 23-year-old has hit new heights. He’s presently in great form, having ridden three winners at the Betfred St Leger Festival at Doncaster last week.
Funnily enough, Rossa sports those purple silks aboard Tuesday’s NAP – Alice Haynes’ two-year-old colt MANHATTAN MIRAGE.
He faces eight rivals in this novice event over 6f, with the main form rival being Andrew Balding’s Infinity Blue.
That horse is yet to win in three starts and is surely vulnerable here, not only against the selection but the four newcomers – two that come from top yards for leading owners.
That’s Mukaafah for Shadwell Racing and Godolphin’s Warsong. They are, in my humble opinion, the main dangers to Manhattan Mirage, which says more about the other three horses with form in the book than anything.
My pick made a highly-promising racecourse debut at Ffos Las on the first day of September. Despite going off 5/4f – an indicator, as well as the Goffs Million entry, that he’s held in above-average regard at home – he could only manage third, but that was behind two decent types who had the benefit of a previous run. Slow out the gates and laboured late on, that performance screamed ‘will come on for the run’.
I’m expecting substantial improvement and ultimately will be disappointed if the NAP can’t get off the mark in what looks a weak novice.
