Nap of the day with owen mcmahon (4)

Following a fruitful week featuring three winning NAPs - one at 7/4 and two at 7/2 - from five selections, I'm hoping for similar success over the next five days.

We start with one at Yarmouth for what looks a bit of a match between two Godolphin juveniles.

I suspect Charlie Appleby's Al Misbar, a half-brother to one of the greatest sprinters of all time in Battaash, may prove popular for this six-furlong novice.

The Blue Point colt fetched a whopping 1.5m guineas at the sales late last year and he sports the royal blue hat suggesting he's Godolphin's main hope - plus he receives a handy seven pounds from Saeed bin Suroor's penalised MIDNIGHT THUDNER.

However, I think the latter, whose jockey Oisin Murphy dons a white hat, is a top prospect that can defy his penalty.

The son of Kodiac made his debut at Pontefract just over a month ago and was a fine runner-up under the circumstances - he completely missed the break, losing about six lengths on his six rivals, and was collared late on having made stylish headway to reach the front just before the furlong pole.

He was quick out the gates next time out at Windsor, where he was an emphatic winner by nearly five lengths. It could have been 10 if his jockey on the day, Kieran O'Neill, wanted it to be.

I was extremely taken by that performance. He travelled and then quickened like a very good horse, putting his 12 rivals to bed with ease.

The distant runner-up Double Rush has since emerged with credit from a classy novice at Haydock won by Hamad Al Jehani's Defence Minister, who I've just learned has been supplemented for the G2 Mill Reef Stakes at Newbury on Saturday, so the suggestion is he wasn't beating trees either.

Tuesday's assignment is tougher. His main rival, the aforementioned Al Misbar in the same silks, should appreciate dropping back to six furlongs having been outstayed over seven last time out, but his prior attempt at the distance was nothing more than ordinary and substantial improvement is required.

West Acre is, according to the 15:05 Yarmouth Odds at least, another likely danger. He's also penalised, but for winning a modest race at Newcastle and I would be disappointed if he was able to beat the selection.

For me, he only has the other Godolphin runner to beat and I fancy he'll do exactly that before going onto bigger and better things.
