Nap of the Day: Handicap debutant appeals at 2/1

It's a new week as far as I'm concerned, and hopefully it can get off to a flyer for Nap of the Day followers.

On a modest Tuesday, Nottingham is the destination as I search for a welcome winner.

Judging by his latest effort, BLACK ENDEAVOUR has been given every chance on handicap debut at Nottingham on Tuesday.

Mark Rimell's two-year-old has been awarded an opening mark of just 67 after a fine run in a warm race here at Colwick Park just 10 days ago.

In a first-time tongue tie, the son of 2020 Middle Park winner Supremacy finished third of six, just over three lengths off the pace.

The winner, Silent Applause in the famous Godolphin blue for Charlie Appleby, bumped into some classy types in his two runs prior and has a rating of 88, while the runner-up Dazzling Haze, a £130k buy, looks to have plenty of scope off his mark of 71. Keep an eye out for him in the near future.

The selection shaped like he was crying out for a step up in trip, which he gets here, in Nottinghamshire. He also has the brilliant Rossa Ryan taking over in the saddle which is a huge plus, especially in the context of this race.

Black Endeavour has four rivals to beat in this 0-70 nursery handicap, including the likely favourite Eclipser for Charlie Clover.

The latter is respected back over a more suitable trip, and a mark of 70 may well underestimate her, but the form of her sole victory to date is nothing to shout about.

Akabusi posted a much-improved performance in blinkers last time out and is another to watch off 64, while I'm unconvinced about the claims of Daretobedifferent and especially Willowinghurn.

The selection, though, has the most going for him as far as I'm concerned and he rates my Nap of the Day.
