NAP of the Day: Good Morning Alex to bid competition goodnight

There is a trio of UK meetings taking place on Tuesday, with Lingfield, Nottingham and Hamilton providing competitive Flat cards on the turf and all-weather.
Our NAP of the Day comes from the Scottish venue as Good Morning Alex attempts to maintain a perfect record in turf handicaps.
NAP of the Day - Tuesday, August 13
- 19:00 Hamilton - Good Morning Alex @ 4/1
The feature contest at Hamilton Park on Tuesday evening is a Class 3 affair over 1m1f as a field of 11 contenders are entered for the McEwan Grant Construction Scottish Trophy Handicap.
Amongst them is the progressive GOOD MORNING ALEX for trainer David Barron, and he looks worth siding with in his quest for a four-timer.
The Land Force gelding has now won half of his 12 career starts, with his winning sequence starting via a 28/1 shock at Southwell in December over a mile.
He backed that up, winning two of his next three on the all-weather at Newcastle over the mile, but was still only rated 58 on his turf handicap bow at Wetherby (1m, soft) in April.
He dotted up there by more than four lengths from a rival that won easily next time out in John L Sullivan.
Good Morning Alex is now 3-3 in turf handicaps after successes at this venue over 1m/1m1f in May/June.
He easily defied a penalty in the first of those wins and then beat an 11lb higher mark over C&D with his familiar front-running tactics at the start of June.
That form has been franked since as the second and third, Up The Jazz and Bur Dubai, were winners on their respective next starts at Ripon and Chester in June.
Connor Beasley's partner did it with something to spare that afternoon and is now raised a further 7lb as he looks to extend the winning sequence still further.
He has been given a 68-day break between runs and should come here a fresh horse. He rises into Class 3 company now but, as a three-year-old, is still carrying just 9st against a field made up largely of four-year-old rivals, with three exceptions.
His proven ability to handle the track at Hamilton is a major asset, though in-form Lunario is also a course winner.
Plenty of these rivals are in decent tune - including the aforementioned Lunario, as well as Giselles Defence, Arctic Mountain and Indemnity - but there is a suspicion that Good Morning Alex is not done improving in this sphere and the gelding can go in again.
