Last week was brilliant for our NAP of the Day column, with five winners from six selections – while if you look a little further back, it’s nine from 11. Strong form, it’s fair to say.

Hopefully we pick up from where we left off courtesy of this 5/1 shot at Leicester on Tuesday.

  • 16:32 Leicester – Intricacy @ 5/1

On the topic of good form, Simon & Ed Crisford are currently operating at a 21% strike rate with six winners from 29 runners – many of whom finished in the places.

That bodes very well for Intricacy, who’s taken to win this 0-90 handicap over 1m2f at Leicester on Tuesday.

The three-year-old son of Dubawi is a consistent type who I thought was rather impressive when comfortably taking a decent contest at Ascot back in July off a mark of 83.

Up 6lbs and tried over slightly further, a lot went wrong next time out at Glorious Goodwood. He was beaten over six lengths and could only manage fourth, but I think he’s much better than that bare result.

You could say his latest effort at Newbury last month was also a bit disappointing, but again I have a different view.

The winner was Greek Order for Harry & Roger Charlton, who was an unlucky loser of the Cambridgeshire the other week and is now rated 99 – while the runner-up, who was only 1¼ in front of the selection, subsequently landed a competitive handicap at the Betfred St Leger Festival and is now 97.

Time has proved it was a fair ask for the Crisford’s horse to give 4lbs to Greek Order, and going down to Maximilian Caesar off levels has hardly aged badly.

Off a pound lower, this looks an easier assignment for Intricacy and, provided he’s fit and ready having been gelded in August, he’s an attractive price to get back to winning ways.

As this is a Super Extra Place Race, with four on offer at 1/5 the odds, I wouldn’t put anyone off backing him each-way for as long as he’s available at 5/1 or greater.
