Betfred’s Owen McMahon picks out his best bet from all six meetings across the UK & Ireland on Tuesday 1 August 2023.
Richard Fahey’s EXPERT CHOICE was a beaten favourite in a novice event at Beverley over three weeks ago, and I’m backing him to make amends over course and distance on Tuesday.
The two-year-old was looking to build upon a promising debut at Pontefract when he finished runner-up to subsequent winner Eminny here in early July. However, after breaking slowly he had an extremely tough task on his hands given Beverley’s distinct draw bias, so I think that performance can be marked up.
He’s been drawn in stall 3 on Tuesday afternoon, so providing the son of Expert Eye can break smartly this time, he has no real excuses to not break his duck.
Of his eight rivals for this 7½f contest, the two main dangers are Tribal Rhythm and Galactic Charm.
The latter has the toughest job of the three having been drawn in stall 7, while the former has the plum draw and is a major threat.
Tribal Rhythm’s debut form at Haydock looks strong, but I’m hoping the extra experience and room for improvement of Expert Choice can see him get off the mark.
