Nap of the Day: Lady Jessie can land Thursday’s nap

Superb 7/2 (returned 11/4) Nap Of The Day landed yesterday, courtesy of the brilliant Silvestre De Sousa and the ultra-game Maritime Lady. For Thursday's selection I'm heading to Ireland, and one of their premier tracks, Leopardstown.

It's an evening card, seven races, starting at 17:15 - and it's in that first contest that our nap will run, on Thursday July 25.

17.15 Leopardstown - Green Impact @ 11/10

There's a tie-in here with a previous nap that didn't quite pull it off for us at weekend.

Green Impact is a two-year-old Wootton Bassett colt out of a Galileo mare. He's run once - in a warm Curragh maiden, finishing a neck second to the Aga Khan's Hazdann 26 days ago.

Back in third that day a couple of lengths adrift was Currawood, who I napped at weekend but he ran into the potentially outstanding The Lion In Winter, one of Aidan's that hadn't run previously.

Jessie Harrington's Green Impact then is a very serious contender here and stepping up a furlong to a mile around a few bends on this pretty flat, fair track looks ideal.

He's got early-closing entries in two Curragh Group heats in the coming months, and is potentially smart. Aidan runs another unraced individual in Delacroix, but I'm hoping we're not scuppered again by beating everything that we should but then getting chinned by one that could be anything.

The excellent Shane Foley is again in the plate for the legend that is Mrs Harrington - flat or jumps a consummate evergreen professional, and Irish racing royalty.

Smashing race with some big yards represented; and let's hope that initial price of 11/10 as I write might just drift out a little to the 11/8 regions, perhaps. In any event I don't want to be anywhere else with my selection.
