Nap of the day with owen mcmahon 3

Despite a significant market move (3/1 into 6/4), it wasn't to be for the Nap of the Day on Tuesday.

So, I'm bidding to get back on track on Wednesday, as my attention turns back to the Flat.

I expect PARTICIPLE to take all the beating in this fillies' maiden over a mile at Chelmsford on Thursday.

Ralph Beckett's Frankel filly is a half-sister to former stablemate Macduff, rated 107 at his peak, who made a highly-encouraging start to her career at Salisbury last year.

The Juddmonte-owned three-year-old was only narrowly denied in Wiltshire, and that form has worked out rather well in the meantime.

The race-fit winner, Qilin Queen, wasn't beaten far by subsequent French 2000 Guineas fourth Luther and Betfred Oaks hopeful Falakeyah in Listed company on his subsequent starts, before winning at the same level at Newbury on Saturday. She's earned a rating of 98 for her exploits.

Just under two lengths behind the selection in third at Salisbury was Aidan O'Brien's Butterfly Wings, sent off 8/11f after a promising debut at Leopardstown a month before, and she's now rated 93 across the Irish Sea.

As far as I'm concerned, that's the standout piece of form on offer in this 13-strong field - and it goes without saying this once-raced filly is open to any amount of improvement.

Fitness is the only concern. She hasn't been seen for 280 days and takes on mainly race-fit rivals on her return. Certainly those prominent in the betting, anyway. Hopefully she's fit and raring to go.

She mightn't need to be 100% to take this, though, for I think it's a modest affair.

The selection's main rival according to the betting is Richard Hannon's Stellenbosch. She's winless in four starts and was a distant eighth of 10 off an opening mark of 80 on her handicap debut at Yarmouth last time out. I'll be disappointed if Participle can't get the better of her.

True Colours can't be ruled out under Oisin Murphy, though she didn't progress as one might have expected between her first couple of runs, while the well-bred Beauty Beyond and Al Durry are ones to watch in the market. They're capable of leaving sub-par debuts way behind, though they probably need to find a stone or two of improvement.

If things go to plan, Participle should be dealing with these under the fantastic Rossa Ryan, successful for Nap of the Day followers already this week.
