NAP of the Day: Wingmen can come good at Fairyhouse

After all the hype of Grand National Day at Aintree on Saturday, there are five cards across Britain and Ireland on Sunday to round off a big weekend of racing action.
They come over jumps from Fairyhouse, Ffos Las and Plumpton, alongside Flat cards from Cork and Southwell (AW). My NAP for Sunday has been banging on the door in some good races this spring and might just benefit from a drop in trip/grade now.

A more than decent card from Fairyhouse on Sunday will assist with the post-Aintree blues and Gordon Elliott could be in the winners' enclosure with WINGMEN after the Paddy Kehoe Suspended Ceilings Novice Hurdle.
The two-and-a-half-miler is one of two Grade 2 events on the Fairyhouse card and a field of 10 were declared, including Ballygunner Castle, You Oughta Know and Joystick for Willie Mullins.
They aren't amongst the novice stars from Closutton in this division but impressive Punchestown maiden winner You Oughta Know, the mount of Sean O'Keefe, is potentially worth keeping a close eye on.
Elliott saddles hat-trick seeker Scalpnagoon following wins at Thurles and Naas but he's jumping up in grade now and it is stablemate Wingmen that makes strong appeal in the hands of Danny Gilligan.
The Robcour inmate won his maiden at Navan over this trip on good to yielding ground in November.
He would prove no match for Country Mile over 2m1f in a decent Cheltenham novice in December but then made the frame in Grade 1s at Naas (2m6f, soft) and Leopardstown (2m6f, soft) in his next two starts.
His clear second behind Final Demand at the Dublin Racing Festival gave rise to the notion a step up in trip to three-miles would suit, but in actuality, he didn't appear to get home in the Albert Bartlett at Cheltenham last time.
A contested lead didn't aid his cause there, and Jack Kennedy's partner ran out of steam up the hill before settling for a midfield finish.
A drop back to this trip looks a good move now but, more so, easing out of Grade 1 company is appealing.
The Kayf Tara gelding has had a busy spring but clearly Elliott believes he's still got it in him to thrive now and if he runs close to the standard he achieved in the Lawlor's Of Naas or the Nathaniel Lacy & Partners Solicitors Novice Hurdle prior to Cheltenham, then he should prove an exceptionally tough nut to crack in this field.
