We’re crossing the Irish Sea and heading to Galway for Sunday’s NAP.

NAP of the Day

  • 15:01 Galway – Sequestered @ 11/4

The Gilligans had a nice winner at Galway on Saturday, and I’m hoping they’ll be in the winners’ enclosure again just 24 hours later.

Sequestered was a very ordinary bumper performer who made an equally-poor start to life over hurdles in an extremely weak maiden at Ballinrobe in August, but since then he’s improved beyond recognition.

He won at Sligo on his second attempt over flights, beating an odds-on favourite for Gordon Elliott who had the rest of the field over eight lengths behind, and then finished runner-up to Willie Mullins’ High Class Hero, who recently landed a Listed prize by seven widening lengths, at Listowel.

I rate that form the best on offer here, and given the improvement shown between those last two runs you’d have to imagine the selection progresses again.

This isn’t as strong of a race either. Elliott’s Stuzzikini sets the standard, but he’s got a habit of finding one too good and dare I say is already starting to look exposed. I respect Mint Boy and Free Flowing, but they’ve got to improve up to Sequestered and hope he doesn’t go forward himself.

Under Jack Gilligan, who claims a valuable 7lbs, I’m confident of a big run.
