Nap Of The Day – Gale can make Bellasio a force at Redcar

After a cracking Super Sprint Saturday at Newbury, we stick with Flat racing on Sunday and head to North Yorkshire and Redcar for the Nap of the Day. There has been plenty of rain around heading into Sunday so expect conditions to be testing with more rain expected overnight.
Our Nap comes in one of the handicaps on the apprentice rider-only card and the young jockey who will be taking over in the saddle has made a hugely promising start to her career.

A talented rider can be worth their weight in gold, particularly in races confined to apprentice jockeys, and one jockey who has made a highly promising start to her career so far is Elizabeth Gale.
She looks like cracking value for her claim at present, particularly when she is able to claim 5lb against her fellow apprentice riders, and that claim will come in handy on board Bellasio.
This son of Belardo has really been getting the hang of things this season, coming on from his reappearance with a couple of narrow defeats north of the border at Hamilton. He then got off the mark with a one-mile soft-ground success at Carlisle and he posted another career best in defeat when the ground was testing back at Carlisle last time out.
This unexposed four-year-old is having just his 10th start on Sunday and he’s going to be far better suited to the testing conditions than most of his rivals in this field. A 5lb penalty for three runner-up finishes and a win looks very lenient from the handicapper and with a talented rider offsetting the rise, Grant Tuer’s charge looks like the best handicapped horse in the field.
One minor hurdle to overcome is the draw in stall eight as it is often an advantage to be drawn low on the straight course at Redcar but that is less of an issue when the ground turns soft, which it will surely be on Sunday, and he therefore appeals as the best bet of the day.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
