Nap of the day geenric (2)

There are three race meetings across Britain and Ireland on Sunday, with jumps cards at Musselburgh and Punchestown joined by the all-weather meeting from Lingfield Park.

Our Sunday NAP is in cracking form and bids to complete a treble for Philip Rothwell at Punchestown, having shown much improved form over the last couple of months.

The Philip Rothwell-trained DUFFYS HODEY has really found his mojo of late and heads for Punchestown bidding to complete a treble in the David Trundley Artist At Punchestown Novice Handicap Hurdle over 2m7f.

The eight-year-old Well Chosen gelding failed to win any of his first dozen starts over hurdles.

He improved however on his seasonal bow at Tipperary (2m½f, yielding to soft) when he was second off a mark of 81 and that improved form has been sustained with three wins in four starts since.

He scored over 2m3½f at Clonmel in early December and was then placed in an 18-runner Limerick contest over the same trip at Christmas.

The New Year began with victory at Fairyhouse (2m4f, soft) in the middle of last month and he has scored again since at this track over just shy of two-and-a-half miles.

He really has found a new level of form and those wins came with plenty to spare. He's been raised another 8lb for his latest success, but is now pushed out further in trip and further progress is expected.

Aidan Kelly takes off 5lb in the saddle and the winning spree for Duffy Hodey can continue.

I Ballyadam Moon was second in a Fairyhouse maiden over 2m4f last time out and could pose a threat upped in trip for this handicap bow, while Portnacoo, Rue Taylor and Prophet's Corner are others with solid claims coming into this race.

Duffys Hodey is now 26lb higher in the ratings than when he scored at Clonmel at the start of December, but he has been seeing his races out very strongly and this additional half a mile could be just what he wants in his quest to defy the handicapper's assessment once again.
