Nap of the day

Delighted to report that yesterday's Nap of the Day advice (Watermelon Sugar, 10/3) hosed up at Lingers (returned 3/1). After a week of more seconds than Oliver Twist could ever dream of it was lovely to feel the net ripple once again.

For Saturday's big one I'm heading to Wolverhampton, and another lesser event (in some eyes) but nevertheless one I feel offers a decent chance of success. Action kicks in at 16:40, and that indeed is the contest I'm most intrigued by.

Nap Of the Day - Saturday, February 8

Wolverhampton

16:40 - Yeoman @ 2/1

For a long time now the presence in an amateur event of Mr Simon Walker in the saddle has been a magnet for punters. I'm no different.

Yeoman benefits from the assistance on top of this accomplished rider, and has the form to put him bang in the picture, too. I tipped him up the other day on this course under Danny Muscutt in a similar heat and he got going a bit late, being unable to land a telling blow (beaten 3l).

I was a little disappointed if truth be told, and fancied him strongly. That he reappears again so soon, and with a top amateur booked, is most encouraging. He perhaps didn't get the rub of the green last month and can do better.

The assessor has dropped him a pound for that last effort and this very consistent five-year-old gelding, trained at HQ by James Fanshawe, can score on Saturday. Enjoys the Wolverhampton contours having won here previously, and I can hardly stress enough that having Simon's a really big plus.

James has had one scorer from just four runners over the last fortnight so the yard's ticking along nicely, too. Lets follow-up yesterday's success if we can.
