NAP of the Day: Delight for Cox at Doncaster

Nap of the Day - lots of racing action across Britain and Ireland on Saturday including the Lincoln at Doncaster. There are jumps cards at Uttoxeter and Stratford alongside turf action from the Curragh and all-weather meetings at Newcastle and Kempton – making it a six-pack for racing fans with something for all tastes.
Saturday's NAP is taking a drop in class and can ensure Clive Cox enjoys a strong opening to the new Flat season on Town Moor.

Clive Cox saddles JAMES'S DELIGHT in the Listed Cammidge Trophy Stakes at Doncaster over six furlongs and the four-year-old may take some beating on his seasonal bow.
This contest typically goes to an improving sort with their best days in front of them – the perfect example being last year's winner Montassib, who went on to enjoy autumn glory in the Sprint Cup at Haydock.
Cox saddles this son of Invincible Army off the back of a strong second season last time around.
He won four times in seven starts, all his successes coming at this 6f trip on ground that ranged from heavy-good, so conditions on Saturday are just fine.
He won at Pontefract on his comeback after 171 days off and was in front again at Newmarket in May, York in June and Deauville in July, the latter success coming in this Listed grade.
He was touched off behind today's rival Spycatcher in the Group 3 Prix De Meautry Stakes back in France in August, denied by just a head.
His final run was in the Group 1 Champions Sprint at Ascot in October and he certainly didn't disgrace himself in being beaten 4½ lengths, having raced in rear and making up some ground late on in an effort that can be viewed positively.
He starts off this season with a rating of 110 and there is reason to believe he can climb higher at four. He started 2023 and 2024 in winning style and may do so again eased back into Listed company at Doncaster.
He's a little worse off on these terms with Spycatcher but that can be offset against the fact he's a four-year-old that may come forward again, meeting a more exposed seven-year-old.
That's enough to sway things in favour of Rossa Ryan's mount and the rider has been in excellent form of late, while he could be in for a big afternoon at Doncaster, with Irish raider Orandi to look forward to later in the Lincoln itself.
