Nap of the day with owen mcmahon 3

After a misfire on Thursday, we got back to winning ways on Friday courtesy of Displaying at Doncaster.

It's another short-priced Nap of the Day on Saturday in the opener over at York.

It was an odds-on shot in the famous red, white and blue of Cheveley  Park who provided Friday's winner - hopefully ARCHIVIST can follow suit at York on Saturday.

William Haggas' three-year-old son of Dubawi rates a strong fancy in this Class 3 handicap over a mile.

He was successful for Nap of the Day followers earlier this month when bolting up in a modest maiden at Leicester to open his account at the sixth time of asking.

On the face of it, a poor return for a 600k guineas buy with an outstanding pedigree, but the bare statistics don't tell a fair story.

Under the care of Sir Michael Stoute before his retirement at the end of last season, it's fair to say Archivist bumped into a few.

He gave Ralph Beckett's Group 3 winner Starzintheireyez (rated 108) something to think about on his second start at Leicester in September, before back-to-back seconds to Seaplane (105) and Smoken (95) at Newmarket and Nottingham in September and October respectively.

On debut for new connections this April following a 178-day break, he was runner-up again, this time to Charlie Appleby's Secret Theory (97). Another fine effort in defeat.

The aforementioned victory at Leicester is hard to get excited about, but it was good to nice to see him get a taste for victory at least. Hopefully there's more to come!

After the last day, it always seemed like he would be lined up for a big handicap - and until 24 hours before the race, it looked like the Golden Gates Stakes at Royal Ascot last week was the one.

However, he was second-reserve and didn't make the cut, despite his trainer pulling stablemate The King's Falcon in plenty of time. I'm purely speculating, but I can't help but wonder if that's a sign of how much the selection was fancied in Berkshire.

And if he was expected to go close there, they must really fancy him in Saturday's company. It's, unsurprisingly, a much easier affair.

George Boughey's hat-trick seeking Cadarn is respected under William Buick, but otherwise there's not much to worry about as far as I'm concerned.

Activist ought to take a good bit of beating here.
