There is lots of racing action in store across Britain and Ireland on Easter Monday, with a whopping eight meetings and 61 races across the day. The Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse is the big event, while there are also jumps cards at Plumpton, Chepstow, Cork and Fakenham joining all-weather meetings at Kempton and Wolverhampton alongside the Flat card on turf at Redcar.

Monday's NAP looks a promising sort for trainer Charlie Hills and represents some lofty connections perhaps more commonly associated with their National Hunt acquisitions.

Class 5 novice fare over the six-furlong trip awaits here at Kempton and the top pair on the racecard are the ones that make the strongest appeal.

17:15 Kempton Odds

Study Up won on debut at Salisbury (6f, good to firm) for Clive Cox last summer, but that form is solid rather than spectacular and this will be his first start in 268 days.

He's surely got progress in him but he has to concede weight to Charlie Hills' colt HOODIE HOO in the silks of Ged Mason and Sir Alex Ferguson et al, much less spotted on the Flat than over jumps.

He finished third in a Windsor novice (6f, good to firm) last July, a contest that has produced five subsequent winners. The time also compares favourably with that of Study Up's debut win.

Hoodie Hoo went to Wolverhampton for last month's seasonal bow and bolted up over 6f in a maiden. The son of Hello Youmzain was positively ridden by Jason Watson in that contest and never had too many worries about justifying the short odds.

On the basis of that effort, he can make up into a decent sprinter for handicaps in the future and this novice event may be within his grasp.

He's got a fitness edge on Study Up and his form in those runs will demand that his other rivals with experience step up, while the newcomers will have to be above-average to take his measure.
