Nap of the day with owen mcmahon 3

It's my penultimate Nap of the Day before going on paternity leave for four weeks, so hopefully I can land a welcome winner prior to signing off in style at the weekend.

We go to Ascot for Friday's selection - a classy two-year-old I hold in very high esteem.

We've got a cracking renewal of the Pat Eddery Stakes to look forward to at Ascot on Friday afternoon.

Seven go to post for the Listed event over seven furlongs, six of whom are last-time-out winners. Four boast unbeaten records.

One of those is Karl Burke's RECIPROCATED for owner Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum, who took the 2023 renewal of this race with the classy Rosallion.

This two-year-old son of Havana Grey is 2-2 in his short career so far and I think he'll take all the beating here, despite the quality of the field.

The 450k guineas purchase made a winning debut at Nottingham last month, beating useful rivals in Silent Applause (subsequent winner rated 88), High Approval (Gimcrack entry) and Front Line Fury (90-rated after two wins from three in the meantime) with a bit to spare.

He then went to Carlisle a few weeks later and bolted up under a penalty, seeing off a previous winner by four widening lengths. A further length-and-three-quarters behind in third was Bleep Test, who wasn't disgraced off 83 on handicap debut at Hamilton recently.

They're two smart pieces of form and the selection gives off the impression there's a lot more to come, especially as he steps up in trip. The extra furlong looks sure to suit.

Clive Cox's A Bit Of Spirit has also won the first two starts of his career and ought to improve too, but I'm not convinced about the standard of opposition he beat the last day and he's very closely-matched with the reopposing Time To Turn.

The latter, trained by Charlie Appleby who's responsible for four of the last six runnings of the Pat Eddery Stakes, is a touch overpriced on that evidence, as is Hugo Palmer's Tricky Tel.

The once-raced Cape Ashizuri is bred to be useful and he looked as much on debut, but this is a big step up in class - as it is for Italica, who bids for a hat-trick.

Rank outsider Sirius A is hard to advise, but even he is no mug, possessing a rating of 89.

Reciprocated, however, looks the part to me. I have a feeling he's destined for the top and hopefully he can justify my faith in Berkshire.
