Nap of the day with owen mcmahon main 2

The Betfred Temple Stakes meeting at Haydock continues on Friday, with a seven-race affair running from 13:50-17:17.

My Nap of the Day comes from the Merseyside venue, on the latter half of the card.

TSUKI is strongly fancied to defy a penalty in the Betfred 'Nifty 50' Fillies' Restricted Novice Stakes at Haydock on Friday.

William Haggas' three-year-old carries an additional seven pounds in this mile-long Class 4 event, courtesy of her debut success at Goodwood earlier this month.

Despite little love in the pre-race betting and showing signs of greenness, especially over the final few furlongs, throughout the contest, the Kameko filly ran out a somewhat cosy winner in West Sussex.

She beat the 78-rated Spirit Of Albion, sent off 5/6f after four runs including a narrow second in a Class 2 at Kempton in November last year, by a widening length-and-a-half, with Jack Jones' Fantasmic a further length-and-a-quarter adrift.

The latter was successfully tipped up in this column at 5/2 on Tuesday, getting off the mark at the third attempt at Lingfield, giving the form a nice boost at the same time.

The reopposing Huggable was just over six lengths behind the selection at Goodwood and despite being seven pounds better off this time, I find it hard to envisage her bridging that gap.

Suite Francaise is also penalised, for winning a modest affair at Newcastle back in September. Charlie Johnston's filly has another couple of pounds to carry due to the race conditions, on top of lacking match fitness. I firmly expect to have the beating of her.

David O'Meara's unraced Brielle is mildly interesting. The daughter of Almanzor is bred to be half-decent, so a market check is advised.

Bring Her Home for Lucinda Russell was last of 10, beaten 33 lengths, at 66/1 on her only start to date and is therefore impossible to advise.

So, this rates an outstanding opportunity for Tsuki, under the excellent Tom Marquand for the first time, to make it two from two.

She's opened a very skinny 2/5, but I'm hoping she'll be much bigger at the off, so the suggestion is to back her at SP.
