Mares' Hurdle Odds - 16:10 Tuesday, March 12

  • Lossiemouth @ 4/6
  • Ashroe Diamond @ 5/1
  • Marie's Rock @ 12/1
  • Love Envoi @ 14/1
  • Telmesomethinggirl @ 14/1
  • Gala Marceau @ 20/1
  • Echoes in the Rain @ 22/1
  • Lantry Lady @ 22/1
  • You Wear It Well @ 25/1
  • Hispanic Moon @ 40/1
  • Theatre Glory @ 80/1

Lossiemouth @ 4/6

The first of our Mullins-trained trio, Lossiemouth won the Triumph Hurdle at last year’s Cheltenham Festival. Gloucestershire has been a happy hunting ground for the five-year-old, who claimed victory in the International Hurdle here in January. An artist of the form, Lossiemouth has six wins and a single second place in seven career hurdles.

Ashroe Diamond @ 5/1

Another Mullins-trained prospect, the seven-year-old is coming off a win in the Yorkshire Rose Mares’ Hurdle at Doncaster in January. Jockey P W Mullins rode Port Joulain to a win in the Doc’s Bumper flat race at Gowran Park over the weekend.

Marie’s Rock @ 12/1

Jockey Nico De Boinville has ridden 16 Cheltenham Festivals, including Marie’s Rock to a 2022 win in this very race. Came a disappointing seventh in last year’s Mares’ Hurdle and is looking to rebound here. Warmed up for this one with a win in the Warfield Mares’ Hurdle in Doncaster in January.

Love Envoi @ 14/1

On her last start, she finished second behind the Mares' Hurdle favourite Lossiemouth in the Grade 2 International Hurdle and second behind Not So Sleepy in the Fighting Fifth. A winner of the Mares’ Novices Hurdle here in 2022 and second behind Honeysuckle in the Mares’ Hurdle last year, she does have some pedigree and could be a bit of a dark horse should she line up.

Telmesomethinggirl @ 14/1

Jockey Rachael Blackmore knows this famous Festival all too well. In 2021, she was the first female leading jockey at Cheltenham, winning six races. The following year, Blackmore became the first female to win the iconic Cheltenham Gold Cup. She rode the winner of the 2021 Mares' Novices' Hurdle, Telmesomethinggirl, who was brought down when trying to repeat 12 months later.

Gala Marceau @ 20/1

Runner-up to race favourite Lossiemouth in last year’s Triumph Hurdle, the five-year-old is expected to find it tougher going in this one. Finished third in the Ashroe Diamond-won Yorkshire Rose Mares’ Hurdle in January and will do well to get that close to its fellow Mullins-trained jumper here.

Echoes In Rain @ 22/1

The eight-year-old has plenty to make up against the race favourite, having been well beaten behind him on her last three starts, including last place in the Irish Champion Hurdle.

Lantry Lady @ 22/1

Henry de Bromhead’s six-year-old has two races on his record and two wins. The 100% ratio is at risk here. Jack Kennedy takes the reins from Rachael Blackmore, who rode Lantry Lady to that brace of victories. Short of experience but has plenty of talent.

You Wear It Well @ 25/1

A winner last year in the Mares’ Novices Hurdle, You Wear It Well’s poor showing at Haydock in February explains some of the betting reluctance. Came second to Marie’s Rock in Doncaster in January.

Hispanic Moon @ 40/1

A winner in the Grade 3 Quevega at Punchestown last time out. Jockey Darragh O’Keeffe rode winner Hurricane Cliff in the Parade Ring Bar Novice Handicap Chase in Limerick at the weekend. Both horse and jockey will find this race a lot tougher.

Theatre Glory @ 80/1

A five-time winner over hurdles but enduring a torrid season. Last win came in February 2023. Jockey James Bowen rode Good and Clever to a win at Warwick over the weekend.
