Mares' Chase Runners

Dinoblue (Willie Mullins/Mark Walsh) 11/10

Having her fourth crack at this Festival and has been second behind Maskada (Grand Annual) and Limerick Lace in this contest in the last two years. Remains in good form and narrowly fended off Allegorie De Vassy in a 2m Listed contest at Naas month.

Brides Hill (Gavin Cromwell/Keith Donoghue) 6/1

Very solid mare at her best and stays further than this trip. Twice beaten as odds-on favourite this season so far but a bold showing on first Cheltenham appearance isn't dismissed for last year's winning trainer/jockey combo.

Limerick Lace (Gavin Cromwell/Jack Kennedy) 6/1

Won this contest 12 months ago after good market support on the day, toughing it out up the hill to hold off Dinoblue. Poor in both starts this season, latterly when 25 lengths behind Allegorie De Vassy and she needs a bounce back in first-time cheekpieces.

Allegorie De Vassy (Willie Mullins/Paul Townend) 7/2

Good second behind Impervious in this race two years ago, but slightly disappointing only to finish fourth a year ago. Hold-up tactics possibly didn't help then and while Dinoblue just edged her last time over 2m at Naas, a reversal of that form over the longer trip is possible.

Fontaine Collonges (Venetia Williams/Charlie Deutsch) 33/1

Five-time winner over fences but she may find this trip on the sharp side and arrives after being pulled up in her last two starts. Blinkers are tried now.

Je T'ai Porte (Gavin Cromwell/Shane Fitzgerald) 50/1

Front-runner, winner of a novice chase at Roscommon last summer over 2m1f but off since Listowel fall in September. Big ask and unlikely she will get her own way up top.

Mayhem Mya (Chris Honour/Bryan Carver) 100/1

Solid chaser at her level, but that level is typically some way below this and she has lots to find on ratings in this company.

Royale Margaux (Tom Symonds/Ben Poste) 33/1

She's 0-6 around this place, though has run well at times in defeat over fences. Comes here having won a Listed Mares' Hurdle at Warwick last time but that was in fortuitous circumstances.

Shecouldbeanything (Gordon Elliott/Sam Ewing) 14/1

Her form has gone up a notch since going chasing this season, winning four on the bounce from September-November. Far from disgraced in the Grade 1 Drinmore against the boys and perhaps didn't see out 2m6½f at Limerick over Christmas in a contest won by Bioluminescence. A drop in trip helps but the hill is a worry.

Verdict

Allegorie De Vassy @ 7/2

Dinoblue is the right favourite, but there's precious little to split her and ALLEGORIE DE VASSY when they are on song. The former got the verdict on the nod last time at Naas over shorter, but if Paul Townend deploys aggressive tactics on his mare now, which didn't happen in this race last year, she could take some pegging back. She gets 5lb from Dinoblue and is preferred at the prices in the hope she's in the mood.
