13:40 - Gee Force Flyer @ 6/5
Champion jockey Sean Bowen is a potent force in these parts - where isn't he? Looks to have plenty of potential chances this afternoon for Olly Murphy, Gordon Elliott, and even one for brother Mickey.
Gee Force Flyer is one of Olly's, a maiden hurdler going 2m 4f. The six-year-old gelding isn't best-in on ratings but has shown admirable consistency in his four runs under rules; after registering a point success back in December 2024.
Last time 46 days ago at Sandown he finished an excellent third of 17, beaten just 3l, and that was in a £45k-to-the-winner series final. This little pot of around £40k less should be well within compass.
15:40 - Coup De Coeur @ 5/1
Good-looking Class 3 handicap chase, over 2m.
The selection is Micky Hammond's eight-year-old French-bred gelding Coup De Coeur, a useful five-from-28 all told and winner of three of his 13 steeplechases.
Conor O'Farrell has ridden him twice in his last four spins and is on board once again today. The horse is up to a career-high mark of 125 but that's commensurate with being in the form of his life.
At Carlisle 31 days ago in a grade higher he was beaten 3l into second chasing a £21k payday, and prior to that in a Class 4 had romped home at Sedgefield in February by 19l.
Lovely racing weight of 10st 13lb in the context of this, with Elliott and Skelton raiders topping the weights. Great chance.
16:10 - Atlantic City @ 10/3
We're looking to Warwickshire trainer Olly Murphy again, but this time in a 2m 4f mares' handicap hurdle - and with Sean Bowen riding for his brother, amateur James King claiming 3lb has the riding assignment.
Atlantic City is a five-year-old mare that's only recently been acquired by Olly from Mullingar handler Ciaran Murphy, and the solitary outing for new connections was 18 days ago, at Haydock.
She finished a commendable, running-on second, beaten 9.5l, to a Skelton inmate that's entered up for a contest here on Friday. Any repeat or hopefully more this afternoon could see this daughter of Ulysses shed the maiden tag.
17:12 - Maura Jeanne @ 9/2
The lucky last, I'm hoping, can go to a 'local' yard - that of Ian Duncan; a mere 100 miles or so away in Ayrshire.
His Maura Jeanne is a nine-year-old mare by Juddmonte International winner Sulamani. She has two successes to her name in 32 starts, and last time 18 days ago signalled a return to something like her best at Carlisle, finishing second of 10 beaten 3.5l.
The naughty old assessor has raised her a pound for that but it was a fine effort, coming home strongly up that stiff finish, boding extremely well for this test at virtually the same trip (3m) but eased a notch in grade.
Stephen Connor has the mount, claiming 3lb, and it's a race confined to amateur jockeys. She's no stranger to Perth, and arrives here crucially in good form.
If all four of our selections won, today's notional 50p win Lucky 15, at the prices indicated (they can of course fluctuate), would return around £380 for a £7.50 total stake. If you can improve upon our selections (of course you can) - then go for it!
