Lucky 15 Tips: Superb Salisbury contests illuminate our Tuesday

Tuesday's Lucky 15 tips come from Salisbury, and their seven-race card that kicks in at 14:07. Excellent racing, some of the sport's top names present, and proper summer top-of-the-ground conditions are forecast. Let's get to it!

14:37 Salisbury - Connie's Rose @ 5/2
Class 4 sprint handicap, over 5f.
Connie's Rose is an experienced seven-year-old mare with ten career wins from 73 starts. She's a daughter of Adaay, who took G2 honours at both 6f and 7f, and is trained in Gwent by Grace Harris who had a nice winner at Lingfield over the weekend.
The excellent Ray Dawson knows the horse well and has the riding assignment, and a key factor here could be the draw. She's got the plum number one box, and she's shown on several previous occasions that she can pop out and look to make all - indeed she nearly did just that when last seen at Chepstow 15 days ago in a slightly lower grade, and Chepstow is much stiffer than Salisbury.
On the evidence of that last outing she looks primed to win and with the curvature of this track favouring that inside berth in sprints (not quite to Chester standards, but a big plus nevertheless), she can make all up that far rail and repel all would-be boarders.
She's getting weight, lumps from some of her market rivals, and I'm hoping they don't proverbially see which way she went!
15:07 Salisbury - Harry Knows @ 5/2
Two-year-olds go 6f in this novice stakes heat.
Richard Hughes sends his Mehmas gelding Harry Knows from Upper Lambourn, looking to secure a breakthrough win after three terrific efforts so far (two at the minimum, one at today's 6f).
Last time out in a race of this nature, here, he failed by just a head under champion Oisin Murphy to score in a field of 11 three weeks ago and his conqueror, Flying Pirate, reopposes on 4lb worse terms as he's penalised that amount for the win under the conditions of the race.
It was Flying Pirate's first run so improvement can be expected, but similarly this was the selection's first spin since being gelded. Richard's stable jock Finley March is doing the steering and for me he's handicapped to do the business and be rewarded for some fine performances in defeat.
15:37 Salisbury - Addison Grey @ 11/8
Another sprint, a 6f Class 3 handicap, and one commemorating the mighty Havana Grey who now stands at Whitsbury Manor Stud about 25 miles down the road.
With a name like Addison Grey it will come as little surprise that the selection is a gelded four-year-old son of the prolific aforementioned stallion, and connections will be extra-keen to take this £10k+ prize for sentimental as well as professional reasons.
Clive Cox trains, and with regular rider Rossa Ryan out of action I believe for a couple of days the excellent Dave Probert has the leg-up. In a better race than this the selection was beaten 1.75l at Newbury last time 45 days ago and that should have set him up beautifully for this, racing off the same mark, 94.
Superb contest, strong fancy; and to be fair there are other wonderful, highly successful stallions represented in this like Harry Angel, Aclaim and No Nay Never.
17:10 Salisbury - Dark Sovereign @ 9/4
The lucky last is a one mile Class 5 handicap, for three-year-olds.
Hector Crouch is a jockey who I feel has made tremendous strides over the last couple of seasons and he's now a bona fide go-to guy for me. He's been engaged to ride Dark Sovereign in this, for trainer Ralph Beckett, a gelded son of Dark Angel, and he's ridden him once in his four racecourse appearances to date.
Familiar Valmont colours on show, so often sported by the jockey and with horses trained by Ralph, and last time out 18 days ago at Sandown he was beaten just 2.25l over 7f, in this grade.
He was finishing well up that stiff incline in Esher and should now very much appreciate this step up in trip. The sire was all about speed, but on the dam's side there's the influence of Shadwell's 8-12f performer Mawatheeq, from the family of Derby-winning superstar Nashwan.
This looks like a winning opportunity in what's another potentially brilliant horserace. The kindly old assessor has dropped him a pound from Sandown, too. Every little helps, and all that ...
If all four of our selections won, today's notional 50p win Lucky 15, at the prices indicated (they can of course fluctuate), would return around £144 for a £7.50 total stake. If you can improve upon our selections (of course you can) - then go for it!
