Lucky 15 Tips: Eight-race jamboree at beautiful Beverley on Thursday

No great persuasion required whatsoever to visit bonny Beverley for our Lucky 15 tips. Tom Marquand and Rossa Ryan are two of the headline acts in the saddle, and the cracking eight-race Thursday card kicks in at 13:52.

We were firmly among the winners yesterday and we go again!

13:52 - Cape Fear @ 3/1

Trainer Andrew Balding sends his three-year-old Kameko colt Cape Fear to contest this 10f maiden, and he's shown definite signs of promise thus far.

Two runs - beaten 7.75l on debut at Brighton (1m), then last time a decent third of eight, 4l adrift at today's trip of 1m 2f (at Bath).

PJ McDonald, so effective for the yard over the years especially in the North, takes the mount, and we can enjoy  those famous Mill Reef colours once again, these days assigned to the Kingsclere Racing Club. Third time's a charm beckons ...

14:22 - Beautiful Rainbow @ 11/4

Two-year-olds now, sprinting 5f.

Our selection is an unraced Cotai Glory filly running in the famous silks of Jaber Abdullah, who had a one-two at Ponty on Monday (tipped up by the column). Beautiful Rainbow is in the care of HQ trainer James Tate, and the brilliant Rossa Ryan has the riding assignment.

She has the plum draw in the one box over this gently turning, tight five; a superb jockey; and is a nicely-bred youngster out of a Dark Angel mare. Lots to like.

Three of the field have run just once, with Lauralynn emerging with plenty of credit after a close-up defeat here; but I'd be disappointed if our hope isn't a potential novice winner and why not today?

14:52 - Trilby @ 9/2

Another blink-and-you'll-miss-it 5f dash, this time for older horses.

Our selection is a course-and-distance scorer, always so useful here; a six-year-old Twilight Son gelding in the hands of West Yorkshire trainer Sam England.

Trilby is five-from-40 all time, and seems happy at either the minimum trip, or 6f. Won here off 82 in this month last year, and looks to repeat the trick off 75 this afternoon.

PJ McDonald again has the leg up and it could, fingers crossed, be a very profitable afternoon for the northern-based, County Wexford-born jock.

16:22 - Tees George @ 5/1

1m 0.5f Class 6 handicap, for older horses.

Tees George is based at Adrian Nicholls' North Yorkshire yard, has two wins from 27 starts, and is a six-year-old gelding by a Breeders' Cup Turf winner.

He's had two reappearance spins since returning to the track in February; a fine effort close-up (3.5l third) at Newcastle, then another excellent outcome at Donny over a furlong more (1m), fourth of 22 just 3l adrift at the line in a slightly higher grade.

That was under an amateur rider, and he gets the trainer's son Jack, claiming 5lb, on this occasion. Looks like the stars are aligning beautifully and Tees George is another who has run extremely well on this quirky, glorious track in the past.

If all four of our selections won, today's notional 50p win Lucky 15, at the prices indicated (they can of course fluctuate), would return around £530 for a £7.50 total stake. If you can improve upon our selections (of course you can) - then go for it!
