Lucky 15 Tips: Lion to roar to at Haydock

There are six race meetings to look forward to across the UK and Ireland on Thursday and all my latest Lucky 15 Tips come from the flat action taking place at Haydock, Musselburgh and Southwell.

Below you can check out my four Lucky 15 selections for 21 May 2026.

15:30 Haydock - Lion Of Mali @ 9/4

LION OF MALI has had a strong start to 2026. Four wins from five is a good record for the three-year-old gelding and he heads to Haydock looking to build on his success at Leicester on his last appearance in April.

He's well-conditioned over 7f, with three of his victories coming over this distance to date. He arrives here boasting strong claims and he has been entrusted to jockey Cieren Fallon, who has a lot to live up to with the son of Sands Of Mali.

Based on the form of the field, he does look the one to beat on Thursday.

16:38 Haydock - From The Hip @ 13/2

After getting off the mark at Chelmsford in October, FROM THE HIP enjoyed the taste of success so much he followed up with a win at Kempton in November. This three-year-old colt is returning after six months away to contest this Class 5 handicap at Haydock.

Twelve runners have been declared for this trip over 6f, the same distance travelled in From The Hip's two recent victories. Trainer Mark Usher will be hoping to see further improvements from him here on his first appearance at this racecourse.

There are some rivals who have raced more recently than him, but his performances before his break have got me fancying him to continue his form on Thursday.

17:00 Musselburgh - Star Cast @ 2/1

STAR CAST for Gemma Tutty's yard has been having an excellent May so far, going two-for-two at Newcastle and more recently Ripon. Both contests were over 1m2f so this three-year-old filly's stamina will be put to the test in this trip covering an extra two furlongs.

She last travelled over 1m4f back in October, finishing four of eight at Newcastle. Tutty and connections will be hoping for signs of improvement here based on her last two showings.

The daughter of Almanzor is the youngest runner in the field, but I believe she can show up her seniors on Thursday.

21:00 Southwell - Bomb Squad @ 4/1

BOMB SQUAD returns to Southwell just under a month after claiming victory in a Class 6 handicap over 7f. The John Mackie-trained gelding declared for a 6f Class 6 handicap on Thursday, which should suit him because he has five successes over this trip, including two over C&D.

Hollie Doyle, who has steered Bomb Squad to his previous three career victories, is back in the saddle for this one and I am anticipating this partnership to bear fruit again.
