Lucky 15 Tips: Capichera can get off the mark at Pontefract

Monday 29th June 2026, 7:34

We have five meetings to sink our teeth into across the day on Monday, despite there being no Irish representation, but there's a little something for everyone, with both Flat and jumps action on offer. Unsurprisingly the focus is on the Flat as they race at Ffos Las, Pontefract, Windsor and Kempton, while the jumping action is hosted by Stratford.

Windsor's card looks particularly interesting and their feature race is a competitive-looking Class 2 sprint handicap. Who doesn't love a Lucky 15? Here are four of our my strongest fancies across the card to consider combining into a multiple. Among them is an Ed Walker-trained filly at Pontefract whose latest piece of form has received a significant boost. Read on for my Lucky 15 Tips for Monday 29 June...

15:22 Ffos Las - Zighy @ 13/8

George Boughey's ZIGHY has been presented with an excellent opportunity to return to winning ways here, provided the three-year-old can prove she's as effective on turf as she is on artificial surfaces, as she's yet to come out on top on the grass.

That being said, she hasn't had too many turf starts and she was a solid third in a better race at Chester last time out. She won a Wolverhampton maiden with plenty in hand back in November and followed up on handicap debut at Southwell in April.

It's very unlikely that we've seen the best of her just yet and the Boughey & Billy Loughnane combination can strike gold once again.

15:30 Pontefract - Capichera @ 2/5

There's a substantial prize fund of £40k on offer for this fairly average-looking novice event and Ed Walker's CAPICHERA looks like the one to side with on form. Yet to get off the mark in four starts, she has however made the frame three times and a big run is expected.

Second on handicap debut at Nottingham in May, the winner has boosted the form since, by running a cracker to finish third in the Sandringham at Royal Ascot. A repeat performance might be enough here and it’ll be a surprise if she's not bang in the mix at the business end.

19:45 Kempton - Sovereign View @ 5/1

James Tate's SOVEREIGN VIEW appears to be much happier on the all-weather and the return to an artificial surface will certainly suit. A bit below-par at Carlisle last time out, that run did come on turf and the handicapper has dropped the three-year-old 1lb since.

He was a short head away from winning when second at Southwell on his penultimate start and was gaining with every stride. This son of Mohaather won with plenty in hand at Newcastle in October and there could be more to come in handicap company.

20:15 Kempton - Golden Horse @ 3/1

William Haggas and Cieren Fallon is often a partnership to follow and the pair combine with the lightly raced GOLDEN HORSE here. He landed a Hamilton maiden in good style on just his second start last term, kicking clear to score by two and a quarter-lengths.

His run under a penalty next time was therefore a little perplexing, but there were some positive signs when fourth on handicap debut at Yarmouth in April. Haggas’ gelding is entitled to step forward for the run and a 2lb drop in the weights won't harm his chances.
