Lucky 15 Tips: Charlie Darling on a roll

Monday brings a six-pack of racing action with afternoon and evening fare on the Flat across Britain and Ireland. They race at Redcar, Carlisle and Lingfield in the afternoon, with the evening action coming from Roscommon, Windsor and Wolverhampton (AW) on a busy start to the week.
Below are my Lucky 15 Tips for Monday's racing, including the hat-trick-seeking Charlie Darling for trainer Alan Brown as he switches to turf at Carlisle.
Lucky 15 Tips - 18 May 2026
- 14:30 Carlisle – Blue Lakota @ 7/2
- 14:40 Redcar – Up The Jazz @ 4/1
- 15:30 Carlisle – Charlie Darling @ 13/2
- 16:22 Lingfield – Travel Agent @ 5/2
*odds correct at time of publication
14:30 Carlisle – Blue Lakota @ 7/2
Kevin Ryan's BLUE LAKOTA is fancied to grab the prize in the Racing TV Handicap over the minimum 5f trip at Carlisle.
The Sioux Nation gelding has an excellent record on synthetic surfaces, winning five times in 17 starts and making the frame on a further six occasions.
Two of those wins were over 5f, while he has also prevailed three times over 6f. He's 0-6 on turf previously but has shown lots of consistency through late 2025 into this year and his trainer clearly feels he can master this surface.
He's rated 8lb lower than for his most recent all-weather success and if he does indeed handle the grass, Kevin Stott's partner is clearly a well-handicapped contender in this grade.
14:40 Redcar – Up The Jazz @ 4/1
Richard Fahey and Oisin Orr can strike in the Marske Fabrication & Engineering Straight Mile Handicap at Redcar with UP THE JAZZ.
The Buratino gelding is consistent but perhaps doesn't win as often as he should. He has two wins and nine placed efforts in 23 turf starts.
He stays further than this mile trip and comes here after finishing close up in recent outings at Ripon and Leicester over this distance.
He was caught in a pocket in that most recent race and had to wait for room before finishing strongly on the outside with just a nose and neck splitting the first three home.
He turns out from an unchanged mark here and has first-time cheekpieces to assist him. He's 9lb below his last winning mark and looks sure to collect again soon.
15:30 Carlisle – Charlie Darling @ 13/2
Cascade Hall was an easy all-the-way winner at Ayr 13 days ago for Jim Goldie but the seven-year-old was allowed to dominate and establish a clear advantage in that contest and his eight rivals in this contest are unlikely to be as accommodating.
CHARLIE DARLING was a winner in Ireland over an extended two-miles on the Flat for Gavin Cromwell and is now thriving for Alan Brown.
The chestnut gelding has notched a pair of wins over that same trip at Southwell in recent weeks and is just 2lb higher back on turf now.
He drops slightly in trip but if Cascade Hall sets a good pace and gets harried for the lead, this race could set up well for him to come home strongly and land the spoils.
16:22 Lingfield – Travel Agent @ 5/2
Adam Kirby's maiden season as a licensed trainer is going well and the Derby-winning rider will hope to see TRAVEL AGENT completing a hat-trick when he switches from all-weather to turf at Lingfield in the Sri Lanka Wonder Of Asia Handicap over 6f.
The No Nay Never gelding has notched his wins over this trip at Wolverhampton and here on the Polytrack during April.
He's now rated 71, 7lb higher than when claiming his first success, but he has finished those races off strongly and if bringing that form across to the turf, he looks ready to complete a treble.
If all four selections won, at the quoted prices, a 50p Lucky 15 (total stake £7.50) would return around £630.62.
