Lucky 15 Tips: William Tell can bounce back on handicap debut

We have a pretty busy Monday on our hands on the racing front this week, with six meetings taking place across Britain and Ireland, and there’s a mix of National Hunt and Flat action.

Killarney provides the quality, with the Grade 3 An Riocht Chase being their feature race, and there’s an intriguing Flat card from Roscommon as well. Catterick and Southwell provide the afternoon entertainment in Britain, with Windsor and Wolverhampton in the evening.

Here are four of our experts’ most fancied runners across the day, and they can be combined to form a Lucky 15.

18:07 Killarney - William Tell @ 7/1

David Kelly’s WILLIAM TELL has had just the four starts over hurdles so far and is set to make his handicap debut here. Clearly, something was amiss on his most recent start, when he finished sixth of nine at Thurles, and the fact that he hasn’t been seen since gives substantial credence to that theory.

He made a very promising start when second in a Cork maiden hurdle back in July and took a step forward to get off the mark with a two-length success over a slightly longer trip at the same course the following month.

Victorious again in a Thurles novice after that, the fourth and fifth have boosted the form by winning since. A mark of 120 doesn’t look ridiculous and there could be more to come.

19:47 Windsor - Abundant @ 11/2

Another handicap debutant who could come out on top on Monday evening is the Tom Ward-trained ABUNDANT, who has only had three starts to date. There was plenty to like about his second on debut at Kempton, especially as the winner followed up next time.

Second again at Bath next time, he managed to get much closer to the winner on that occasion and was less than a length behind as they crossed the line. He absolutely bolted up when winning at Southwell in October and 78 could prove to be a generous mark.

20:00 Wolverhampton - Celestra @ 4/5

John & Thady Gosden are in excellent form at the moment and their strategy of using the best available jockeys is definitely paying dividends. Oisin Murphy gets the ride aboard CELESTRA in this Class 3 novice event and she appears to be the most likely winner.

This daughter of Kingman finished second on both starts last season and was a head away from getting off the mark in a decent Newmarket novice in July. Going up to an extended mile at Beverley last month, she was narrowly denied once again.

She’s likely to improve for the run and the extra furlong may well help her cause. Winning at this sort of level shouldn’t be beyond the 81-rated three-year-old.

20:17 Windsor - Sibling Rivelry @ 13/2

David Simcock runs the very lightly raced SIBLING RIVELRY and the four-year-old has won three of her six starts so far. She struggled a little on debut at Chelmsford in February 2025, but improved drastically to get off the mark at Southwell the following month.

Doing well since going up in trip and running in handicaps, she was a game winner at Goodwood last summer and was also successful off this mark at Newcastle in October. There could be more to come this year and she drops into a lower grade here.

If all four of our selections won, today's notional 50p win Lucky 15, at the prices indicated (they can of course fluctuate), would return around £800 for a £7.50 total stake. If you can improve upon our selections (of course you can) - then go for it!
